New at SU!- Softly Sophisticated for SAB

Happy to see you hopping through here! Our New at SU! global group of demonstrators have ALL the Sale-a-Bration products here for you this month, and trust me: You want them ALL. Whether you are ending here, or just starting, don’t miss a single post!

I get to showcase the Softly Sophisticated bundle that you could choose free through February 29th with a qualifying order in your country (in the US, it’s free with a $100 order) and it comes with a stamp set AND an embossing folder:

It feels so elegant in Very Vanilla and I used the Perennial Postage dies for this first card to show how a simple layout can be “next level” when you add a little embossed texture.

Only one little problem: The small die with the postage cancellation wasn’t long enough! So here’s HOW TO STRETCH a die!

Leave me a comment and tell me what you think of this project, or which SAB item is next on your wish list, then visit these posts to help you celebrate creativity during Stampin’ Up! Sale-a-Bration – remember to save or PIN your favorites!

Spiral Pop-Up Cards, Valentine Edition

Crafter problems: Losing sleep over a project that you’ve dreamed up! That was the situation last night because I was too excited about making this idea come to life:

But I’m getting ahead of myself…

This simple pop-up card uses WINDOW sheets (spiralized) to make the bees buzz with a message of love on Valentine’s Day! The front of the card:

I actually made TWO versions with the Bee My Valentine suite AND a Sale-a-Bration specialty paper (which I’ll show you after the video). They are very easy to create and will be buzz-worthy when my grandkids open them!

Here’s the tutorial video:

It’s your last chance to sign up for my January VIRTUAL Class, featuring the Bee My Valentine bundle

-OR- stamps and punches you may already have! Click the image for more info:

Stampin’ Up! Sale-a-Bration is in full swing, and you could choose the Most Adored Specialty Designer Series Paper as a free product with $50 order before it ends on 2/29/24 (or the paper is sold out), in which case, you could ALSO make this version of the Spiral Pop-Up Card:

One side of the paper is Flirty Flamingo and Real Red and the other side is white and GOLD FOIL, which will be perfect to have on hand for wedding season and anniversaries.

When you checkout from my Stampin’ Store, you’ll be prompted to choose Sale-a-Bration product(s) you qualify for! Here’s a cart I’ve started for you (add or take out, as you wish):

Use a 6″x6″ Designer Series Paper for This Card!

Some patterned paper comes as 12″ x 12″ and a few of our fancy designs are 6″ x 6″, so today (and to help you use up your Paper Share!), I’ve got a fun fold slimline card which uses a 6″ x 6″ piece of Perennial Lavender Designer Series Paper:

On the left is the card closed flat, and on the right, it’s open to see all the panels.

Cut two 2″ wide and two 1″ wide pieces from one 6″ x 6″ piece of pretty paper to fit into each section. You’ll also need a 1″ x 6″ and 2″ x 6″ panel of card stock to fit where you will write a message. The finished size is 3.5″ x 6.25″ when folded flat.

Here’s a different version with a piece of the Lighter Than Air Designer Series Paper, which already comes as 6″ x 6″-

I created a belly band for this one to keep it closed, then when you slide it off, it opens to wish you a Happy Birthday:

If you didn’t snag a stack of patterned paper in my Designer Series Paper Share, I have a few left! Get one piece of EVERY paper in the 2024 Jan-April Mini catalog for $18 (if you pick up from me in Hurricane, UT) or $22 shipped to you, while supplies last. Both pieces used on these cards ARE INCLUDED IN THE SHARE.

Need more ideas to try for 6″ x 6″ paper?

I love making Sour Cream treat containers or use the Corner Angle card technique to get 4 cards from one piece of paper!

The Perennial Lavender Designer Series Paper (and Perennial Lavender suite) coordinates with the January Paper Pumpkin craft kit! Subscribe by January 10th to receive the Lovely Lavender kit:

Make love-themed cards for special occasions, Valentine’s Day, anniversaries, and more with this all-inclusive kit that arrives in your mailbox in January. The kit includes a unique photopolymer stamp set and ink spot and…

• Makes 8 cards: 4 each of 2 designs with 8 coordinating envelopes

• 4 bonus tags that punch out from the card front

• Precut paper pieces and linen thread

DON’T MISS THIS! There is still time to reserve your Designer Series Paper Share – one 6″x6″ piece of every pattern in the new 2024 January-April Mini Catalog:

Sent by Blueberry Post

Rooty-Tooty Fresh & Fruity! Tomorrow- Thursday, January 4th- the January-April Mini Catalog goes live AND 2024 Sale-a-Bration begins!

I admired the “Blueberry Bunches” stamp set (item #162692) the moment I saw it: It feels like a floral, but it’s a fruit, and that’s kinda my “jam” (see what I did there?).

I’ve paired the stamps with the Perennial Postage bundle (Item #162608) for the sentiment and postage stamp die (in various sizes).

This is the second largest die and after I cut a piece of basic white, I stamped the blueberries in the center, then used Masking Paper around the edges so I could blend Pool Party ink from the outside into the image- a technique called “Reverse Masking”. As you carefully peel off the masking paper, the background appears as a frame!

Once I colored the image with Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers, I “cancelled” the postage stamp with the cutest little detail of the cancellation mark, which I dipped into Memento Tuxedo black ink before running through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss machine on top of my colored postage stamp.

Seemed fitting to share it with the #tgifc453 postal theme this week.

I’ll update the supply list once the catalog goes live, and hope you’ll try this technique and mail bunches of happy mail.

Need a Mini Catalog and Sale-a-Bration brochure? Shoot me a message and I’ll send it out to you.

Don’t want to miss a publication in the future? I mail mini catalogs to my customers who order $50 or more in the previous 6 months!

Copying MYSELF- Something Old, Something New

On Monday, I demonstrated how to use the catalog to find layouts (card sketches) to copy, but have you ever made a card you loved so much, you copied yourself?

This is a card I created for a swap at Stampin’ Up! BackStage (a leadership event) to swap with the New at SU! design team:

This isn’t all of the team, but these demonstrators come from all over the globe and we’ve been participating in blog hops once a month for a few years to bring you ideas (see previous post!). Those of us in Las Vegas in August met to swap cards and capture a picture, so I used the Curved Occasions stamp set to make a special card for them. We are each holding the cards we exchanged:

I liked the layout of that card, so when I opened the Simply Sparkling bundle (an online-exclusive product you can find in my store), it made sense to re-visit the same design:

The strawberry Designer Series Paper is a design in the Delighfully Eclectic Mega-pack and I’ve been wondering what it would coordinate with: Apparently it was in anticipation of this bundle 🍓

Card Measurements:

  • Card Base: 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″
  • First layer: 3-1/4″ x 5″
  • DSP strip: 3-3/4″ wide by 1-1/2″ OR 2″
  • Stamped layer: 3-1/2″ x 2-1/4″
  • Mat behind stamped image: 3-3/4″ x 2-1/2″
  • Sentiment Strip: 2-3/4″ to 3″ wide and as tall as needed for sentiment

If you need a disco ball or roller skates in your stampin’ stash, collect the Curved Occasions stamp set – or bundle- before it retires (and on sale at 10% off). These are the supplies for the Happy Day Card:

New at SU! Sending Smiles with Very Vanilla & Crumb Cake

Very Vanilla is a warm option for basic stamping that is often overlooked, and our International design team is showing you how lovely it is paired with Crumb Cake (another neutral) to create timeless hand-stamped cards:

My “Sending Smiles Across the Miles” card begins with the Watercolor World background stamped with Crumb Cake on a 3-1/2″ x 4-3/4″ Very Vanilla card stock, then I embossed it with the Timeworn Type embossing folder. Add a bit of Crumb Cake ink with a blending brush lightly around the edges and layer it over a crumpled/distressed 3-3/4″ x 5″ crumb cake card stock.

💡 TIP: Spray the card stock you want to distress lightly with water in a Stampin’ Spritzer to make it easier to crumple in your hand, then lay it out flat to dry.

Wanting to keep the two colors as the main palette, I just added a subtle touch of Petal Pink and Soft Sea Foam on the flower/stem and ribbon.

Wouldn’t this be perfect to mail an international Pen Pal? Have you ever had a pen pal in another country? Let me know in the comments!

The card supplies are listed below the other hop participant’s links (visit them all and SAVE your favorites), and I’m delighted to serve you if you don’t have a preferred U.S. demonstrator!

Bee Mine Catalog CASE + 2024 Paper Share Open NOW!

Stampin’ Up! catalogs are the first place I look for crafting inspiration! Today I “CASED” a card from the 2023-2024 Annual catalog, but used a completely different set of products!

This was my inspiration (from page 101 of the catalog and the Seaside Bay stamp set):

The “Bee Mine Valentine” suite will arrive on January 4, 2024 for customers, and demonstrators got to pre-order it (a lovely perk of joining!), so I used the stamps, punch, ribbon and Designer Series Paper from the suite of products to copy the layout above. Here’s my version:

The face on that bee just makes me giggle. I imagine he feels like I do occasionally when I tell my husband, “I’ll always love you, I just don’t like you right now.”

Rather than stamping the background, I used a piece of the Bee Mine Designer Series Paper. It’s adorable bees, flowers and honey images on one side are complemented by the opposite side by whimsical, brightly colored designs.

Patterned paper is one of those crafting staple products that help make every project perfect, and you may want a piece of EVERY design in the new mini catalog…don’t worry, I’VE GOT YOU!

  • 48 6″x6″ pieces of Designer Series Paper: One of EACH paper in the mini catalog, including specialty papers!
  • Only $22 shipped to you (U.S. addresses only) or $18 if you pick up from me in Hurricane, UT.
  • Deadline to reserve your paper share: January 6th, 2024

Here’s the 15-minute video of how I CASED my card layout from the catalog (faster, if you change the speed in the settings!)

Watch for details coming soon about a virtual class where you can use the BEE MINE bundle -OR- stamps you may already have!

Roller Skate Congrats Card (+ Free Shipping Day)

The Curved Occasions stamp set has been one of my favorite to design with, but it’s retiring SOON (AND it’s on sale!). I think it’s the playful images I enjoy using…while I can’t roller skate, I spent plenty of time in the roller rink growing up, so this congratulations card was plain FUN to create with all the memories of my pre-teen klutziness:

You can choose: If you want to color in the images, you could, or emboss and fussy cut them to place on the banners. Add a little eye-catching bling with the More Dazzle paper (a little goes a long way) and it makes you want to do a little happy dance!

I’m giddy that Stampin’ Up! has surprised us with a few FREE SHIPPING days this year, and the last one is tomorrow, Thursday, December 14th! If you order online, the free shipping is offered on orders over $75, or you may call/text/message me by 6 pm MT tomorrow to add your smaller order to mine…if you are willing to pick up your order from me in Hurricane, UT.

There is a good chance you’ll receive your order by Christmas when you order tomorrow during the Free Shipping event…especially if you order early! Don’t miss the LAST CHANCE SALE where many beloved items from the September-December mini catalog are on SALE (like the Curved Occasions stamp set)!
