What’s New at SU! ~ Bird Ballad Lanterns

Whats new (2)

Greetings, friends: I’m glad you are here for our “summertime stamping” themed blog hop! The What’s New at SU! group is comprised of demonstrators from around the world who are excited to share the latest Stampin’ Up! ideas with you, and I know you’ll find inspiration to create your own versions (or borrow one of ours).

I love thinking of ways to use my paper crafting supplies for projects that are unusual, and when I think of summer, I think of barbecues and picnics with family and friends! So why not a little tabletop decor?

IMG_2303 (W)

The beautiful new Bird Ballad Designer Series Paper (DSP) was a fine choice for these paper lanterns and they were super simple to make!

IMG_2311 (W)

For the small round lantern, you’ll need a piece of 6″ x 12″ DSP. Score it at 1″ along the top and bottom, then cut vertical lines at every inch between the two score lines. Cut two strips of contrasting DSP 1″ x 12″ to reinforce the top and bottom edges, if desired, and a 1″ x 10″ strip for the handle. Wrap the paper around and attach the sides together at the back.  I inserted the handle between the lantern and outside reinforcement strip using Tear & Tape adhesive. I also curled the paper with my bone folder a bit to keep the round shape. Then I set it over a small jar with a battery-operated candle!

IMG_2309 (W)

This tall lantern is easier (if possible)! It’s a piece of 9″ x 9″ DSP and you score it at 1″, 4.5″ and 8″, then fold at the 4.5″ line and cut at 1″ from the fold just to the edge of the score lines:

IMG_2293 (W)

When you unfold the paper, it looks like this:

IMG_2294 (W)

Follow the same instructions for finishing this lantern. You could make them any size: I simply suggest measuring the jars you are going to wrap them around and cut the width to 1″ longer.

Now you are ready to party on to the next blog which is Terry’s (or back to Margriet’s blog)!

Crazy for Daisies: Get 3 Free Cards!

Did you know:

  1. Daisies are found on every continent except Antarctica?
  2. Daisy leaves are edible (they are high in vitamin C and can be added to a salad)?
  3. Daisies represent purity and innocence
  4. They are actually 2 flowers in one: The (usually) white petals count as one flower and the cluster of (usually) tiny yellow disc petals that form the ‘eye’ is technically another.

The beauty of stamping a daisy is that you can make them ANY color and with the addition of the Daisy Lane bundle to the Stampin’ Up! catalog, we now have 2 sizes of Daisy punches to play with…and they look fabulous in layers, as I demonstrated today on my Facebook Lunchtime Crafting LIVE:

Watermarked4(2019-06-17-1504)

This card opens like an overlapping gate and the 3-D flower curls back onto the card, making it feel ALIVE.

SPECIAL OFFER: 3 Free Cards!

I know you’ll love playing with the bundle (stamps + punch = save 10%) so I’m offering a BONUS to my customers: Order the Daisy Lane bundle from my Stampin’ Store (through July 22, 2019) , I’ll send you the supplies* and instructions to make 3 cards!

*Card stock and embellishments included. Ink pads and adhesive NOT included. You may use any colors, but the coordinating ink pads are Daffodil Delight, Highland Heather, Granny Apple Green and Night of Navy if you would like to add them to your order.

Here’s a sneak peek:

So go CRAZY for daisies and get ready to make some beautiful cards!

Good Morning, Magnolia: What’s New Blog Hop

Whats new (2)Welcome to our first “What’s New at SU!” Blog Hop through the 2019-2020 Annual Catalog! As an international group of demonstrators, we look forward to sharing ideas to inspire you to get out your rubber stamps to create something special in your own craft room.

I’ve chosen to showcase the Magnolia Lane Suite~ an absolute stunning collection of coordinating products that would make Chip & Joanna Gains drool.

Watermarked1(2019-05-29-1416)

This card came together so perfectly with very basic stamping, a bit of DSP, a punch, and the coordinating Magnolia Memories Dies. Using the decorative edge die on both the top and bottom of the Petal Pink panel left room for the stripes to peek out.

Watermarked2(2019-05-29-1416)

The Story Label punch isn’t part of the suite, but gave the sentiment a focal point, and by punching two holes on the ends, I could thread the Mossy Meadow twine through to secure it to the card.

Mimicking the elegant edge on the inside gives extra attention to your hand-written expression of appreciation and finishes off the greeting card with style:

Now it’s time to hop on over to the next blog where Joyce is spotlighting the Bloom & Grow bundle or if you missed it, jump back to Tricia’s post and work backwards through the hop.

Me neither.

But the feeling when someone says, “Thanks for the card you sent…it’s so beautiful and it means so much that you would make me something!” THAT’S a reaction I appreciate!!cover

Little Elephant Push Pops

When you walk past something in the store and think, “I could stamp on that”, it only makes sense to try it out. These push-pop containers, for instance:

Gingham-Style Multi-Crafting

“Multi-Crafting”= the act of creating a greeting card for more than one purpose

You know you are an avid paper crafter when you can’t bear to throw away “useable scraps” of Designer Series Paper and now I feel justified in saving the strips from my Gingham Gala paper pack: It was the theme of  #tgifc213

213

WHY this DSP isn’t carrying over into the new catalog is beyond comprehension, but make sure you order your Gingham Gala paper stack before it’s gone- or by June 3rd- whichever comes first.

I demonstrated how to make this card on my Facebook Page for my weekly live crafting video today and it’s so adorable~ Do you ever stamp an image that just makes you giggle with delight? Totally happened here.

Watermarked(2019-05-27-1404)-2

Since I was Multi-Crafting, it occurred to me that I could do another version with a sneak peek of a new stamp set (coming in the 2019-2020 catalog on June 4th) that would work with #GDP191

GDP191 - May 27Watermarked(2019-05-27-1404)

And that was just the beginning of a full-blown gingham-style craft-attack:

Watermarked(2019-05-27-1408)

The good news is I have a bunch of thank you cards to mail out to customers, I’ve used up most of my Gingham bits & pieces, I can check off my Monday LIVE video on my task list, and can participate in two creative challenges. I think I’ll take the rest of the day off 🙂

Out with Old, In with New

The end of a Stampin’ Up! catalog is bittersweet as I hate seeing things I have loved retire, and I’m also excited about what’s coming! Today I used a retiring stamp set and a coming-soon ribbon to create a card of enCOURAGEment on my weekly FB Lunchtime Crafting LIVE broadcast (which happens every Monday at 12:30 Mountain Time, by the way).

It started with the Global Design Sketch #190

gdp190

When a friend just needs a little encouragement, a card is a tangible piece of your support and this one almost made itself:

Watermarked1(2019-05-20-1520)

The colors are Petal Pink and Gray Granite and Whisper White and the stamp set is Ribbon of Courage (retiring June 3). The ribbon is NEW Petal Pink Organdy Stripe (coming in the new catalog on June 4th) with a few silver metallic pearls sprinkled on to give it some bling.

Watermarked2(2019-05-20-1521)

Mark your calendars for my New 2019-2020 Catalog Reception on June 8th in Utah County where you can snag both old AND new products with my once-yearly BOGO sale, and pick up a new catalog!

Best Catch: What’s New At SU! Blog Hop

It’s easy to make a frilly, pretty card…but sometimes it’s a challenge to create something for the guys. Never fret: We are here to help!

whats new at su header

These are some talented demonstrators from all over the globe who have come together to jump-start your “masculine” card making skills, so make sure you hop through all the blogs and tell us what you love and what you want to see more of!

I’m sharing a gift card holder I created for my husband’s birthday using the BEST CATCH bundle from the Occasions Catalog:

To create the card base, I used a piece of 12″ x 5.5″ Very Vanilla card stock and scored it at 4-1/4″ and 8-1/2″. On the last panel, you can cut diagonally OUT from the 8-1/2″ score mark and then fold it inside the card, adhering it to the bottom of the card with Tear & Tape adhesive, forming a pocket. You could insert cash, a gift card or a photo into the pocket. Not just for birthdays, but Father’s Day or Anniversaries, too!

Watermarked1(2019-05-01-1205)

For the front of the card, I started with a 3-5/8″ x 4-7/8″ panel of Very Vanilla card stock and cut a mask from a piece of scratch paper, laid it over the panel about 1/3 of the way up and sponged water with Pool Party ink. Keep the other piece of the mask to lay over the water and sponge the sandy shore above the water with Crumb Cake ink.

Next you’ll cover your sand with a mask and sponge a sunset: I started with Poppy Parade and then blended in Pumpkin Pie, Mango Melody, and Daffodil Delight ink with my sponges. Finally, sponge Night of Navy all the way around the edges and layer it on a 3-3/4″ x 5″ Navy Mat.

The fish is stamped in Black Memento Ink and colored with Stampin’ Blends, then cut, along with the reeds, using the coordinating dies. I love blending different colors on the fish! HINT: Save 10% when you purchase the stamps & dies together in a bundle by June 3rd.

Diane always has something amazing to share, so hop over to her blog next, or skip back to Cheryl’s blog to see her guy-inspired project~ Both featuring the Geared Up Garage product suite!
