New at SU!~ LEAVES, but Make ’em Metallic!

We’ve got an eye-catching theme for the July New at SU! Blog Hop~ putting the spotlight on some of the current METALLIC products Stampin’ Up! has to make your crafting super SHINY!

Though the extreme summer weather just ended (we are happy to be down to 102º Farenheit), and as much as I enjoy this season, I’m looking forward to the crisp feel of Autumn, so I created my cards using the Changing Leaves bundle (NEW to the Stampin’ Up! Online Exclusives) and the Dry Brushed Metallic Specialty Paper

Copper embossing powder for the leaf adds a second color to my mixed-metals, and a dot of Metallic Enamel Effects at the tip of each end of the sprig is the finishing touch!

It was so pretty, I made a second version! The softness of the embossed background and the separated Copper Clay Jute twine gives it an organic, woodland vibe.

Side-by-side, they reflect the details of nature- so lovely to imitate!

Don’t be too distracted by shiny objects, you’ve got more to see along the global “Make It Metallic” blog hop~ up next is Tricia with another new Online Exclusive product to get you holiday ready:

Paper Crafts with ZEST!

The frame die from the Citrus Blooms bundle offers such versatility when you are considering summery cards or gifts, and in my Live Crafting broadcast today, I couldn’t stop with just one project.

The first card I demonstrated was the elegant “gate-fold” card, which opens to reveal a simple branch of mouth-watering fruit. For once in my career, I DIDN’T add a sentiment to this card! It seems like it could be used for any reason, so I left the options open.

The measurements for this gatefold card are:

  • Night of Navy Mat: 5.5″ x 4.25″
  • Basic White card stock: 4″ x 10.5″, scored at 5.25″
  • Designer Series Paper for gate flaps: 5.5″ x 5″, folded in half at 2.5″
  • A piece of Designer Series Paper to die- or fussy-cut your preferred citrus from
  • 22″ Navy & Gold Glimmer ribbon

While I didn’t demonstrate the second card, I’ll show you how to cut the larger navy layer from the frame using a 4.25″ x 5.5″ piece of card stock in the short video below.

Finally, when I found the Lemon Crisp Kit Kat candies, I knew I needed to make a favor (before I ate them all and regretted my life choices).

Measurements for this project:

  • Cut the frame from a 4″ x 5.5″ piece of Designer Series Paper, then score it at 2-1/8″ and 3″ in the center.
  • Night of Navy card stock 2-7/8″ x 4.5″, scored on all four sides at 1″ to create the “box” that holds two candies inside.
  • Navy 1″ x 8.5″ for the band around the outside (you’ll cut off the excess on the top after wrapping it)
  • Ribbon- as long as you want (tie a knot or a bow)

Now you have all the pieces prepared (right?), watch HOW to make each of these projects:

So Very Merry Gingerbread House Christmas Card

Sweet Treat Challenge + New Online Exclusives

The Sweet Treats theme for the TGIF Challenge this week got me dreaming of sugar plums…

We’ll call it “Christmas in July”!

This was the #tgifc479 challenge to start our creative cogs turning:

The So Very Merry stamp set is not in the catalog, but *IS* still in the Online Exclusive section of my Stampin’ Store, and I embossed the gingerbread house on a banner cut from the Nested Essentials dies, then colored it with watercolor pencils and added Wink of Stella to the candy for sparkle (all supplies listed below). Though it’s hard to see in a photo, trust me that the treats glisten in the light!

Speaking of Online Exclusives, there are NEW ADDITIONS to that section of my store, and you’ll have a hard time choosing between the frightfully fun Halloween, the elegant Autumn or the gorgeous Holiday offerings. You have my permission to choose all of them! And there is MORE than just these shown.

Back to my gingerbread house card, the supplies I used are below and feel free to use the idea for your holiday mail, if you love it!

All About August

While I’m coming to tell you all the super Stampin’ Up! stuff happening in August, stick around to the end for a Layering Leaves fun fold card that *doesn’t* require the Bough Punch!

First, it’s TIME TO REDEEM the Bonus Days coupons you earned in July!

For each $50 you spent in July, you were emailed a coupon code for $5 off your next order. Find those emails/codes and enter/redeem them with your orders before August 31st.

Next: All Kits in the Kit Collection are DISCOUNTED up to 30% all month long!

That sale INCLUDES the NEWEST Kit, just released today: Festive Tags!

Sensational tags…and how cute on a kit! Stock up on both for holiday gift-giving now.

If you didn’t hear yesterday, my personal focus in August is on the Layering Leaves stamp set: This set coordinates with the Bough Punch – which is sadly being restocked from overseas – but you can still earn my 3 for FREE offer by adding the stamps to any $50+ order this month:

You’ll get a tutorial for 3 free cards via email AND the consumable supplies to make those 3 cards in the mail! I’ll also send any customer who orders the stamp set this month a FIRST NOTIFICATION message as soon as that pesky Bough Punch is back in stock, for you’ll want it with your stamp set.

There are just a few supplies you’ll need to complete the 3 free card tutorials that WON’T be included. You may already have these on hand OR could substitute similar products, but if you want to add them to your order, here they are:

Ink Pads: Basic Gray, Boho Blue, Moody Mauve, Wild Wheat, Copper Clay, Granny Apple and Tuxedo Black Memento Ink pad

Adhesive: Stampin’ Seal or Multipurpose Liquid Glue, Mini Glue Dots and Stampin’ Dimensionals

Meanwhile…

Here’s a simple fun fold card that you can create with your Layering Leaves stamp set!

The Recipe for Embossing Folder Sandwiches

You may not have a preference for how your sandwiches are cut, but there is a CORRECT way to layer the “sandwich” for using embossing folders on your Stampin’ Cut & Emboss machine 🥪

Stampin’ Up! has three styles of embossing folders: Standard (approx. 1/16″ wide), 3D (approx. 1/8″ wide) and Hybrid (similar to 3D and will have a coordinating die to insert as desired). Each type of folder has a “Recipe” for successful texturizing, and if you forget, it’s PRINTED on the base plate/platform #1

Today’s LIVE video teaches the tips and tricks to remember for successful embossing:

Because there are NEW items in the Online Exclusive section of my Stampin’ Store (some are being restocked as quickly as possible!), I am showcasing the 3-D Basics trio of embossing folders, starting with the 3-D Floral:

I lightly pulled/tapped my Petal Pink ink pad across the embossed layer to help the flowers POP and the other supplies are listed below. The Radiating Stitches Dies (which is what I used for the frame) are also part of the Online Exclusives!

Come back over the next few days to see all the cards, and remember it’s BONUS DAYS in July, so for each $50 spent before 7/31, you earn a $5 coupon to redeem in August!

I enjoy visitors AND COMMENTS, so thank you for reading and saying HI! Check back in for card #2 tomorrow.

Lemon Lolly, Sweet Sorbet and Black

Friday is a good day for stretching those creative muscles, so I jumped into this unique TGIF Color Challenge!

Once I saw the colors, I went to my stamp collection to choose a stamp set. I hadn’t inked up the new SUPER COOL stamps yet, and the cake roll image reminded me of a red velvet cake:

It needed just a little something after I stamped (and fussy cut) the greeting, so I pulled out the teensy strawberry die from the So Refreshing dies to mimic the fruit on top of the cakes. Just “dip” them into an ink pad to really show off the texture from the dies…

It’s BONUS DAYS at Stampin’ Up!

Hope you make time to ink up a new stamp this weekend, too!

To achieve a ombre look on the sentiment, I inked the top half of the stamp (DECK) in Real Red and the bottom half (HALLS) in Old Olive, then I used a sponge dauber to add Cherry Cobbler ink to the bottom of DECK and Garden Green was sponged at the bottom of HALLS:
