Graduation Diagonal Fold Card with Arch Slide Lock

Do you have a favorite card fold or sketch that you go back to time and time again? I’m going back to this diagonal fold with a double arch that you can slide in to lock because it’s so versatile for the Reasons & Seasons mashups I’m sharing this week!

Stampin’ Up!®️ Graduation Card using Seasonal Celebrations and Reason to Celebrate stamp sets

This fold was one I used for the Anniversary card created for a swap in January with the same two stamp sets, so I thought you would appreciate seeing how you can get more uses from it.

Diagonal Fun Fold

By layering two arches together (one on top of the other, separated by black stampin’ dimensionals on just the lower diagonal section) you create a locking mechanism: simply slide the top diagonal piece between them when you close the card:

Here are a few tips:

  • Make TWO cards at the same time: Score a full sheet of card stock in half both directions (lengthwise and widthwise) before cutting, then cut it diagonally and you’ll have two card bases.
  • The top layer (the one I embossed) is a 4″ x 5.25″ piece of card stock. Emboss first, then cut it diagonally to make the layers.
  • You could use two of the same size arches to create the lock, but I like the look of a larger arch behind the smaller arch, even though you only see half of it when it’s locked.
  • Remember to add an adhesive sheet to the back of your silver foil sheet *before* die cutting the star- peeling off the backing to stick it on is much easier/cleaner than using liquid glue! Use your embossing buddy on the points of the star that stick beyond the arch and those points won’t stick to the card.

When the card is open, I did include a Congratulations sentiment, and you can just ink up the “grad” part of the longer Graduation sentiment to get the shorter word.

This card is red & black because that’s the color of both the high school and local university, but you can use the colors for the school you are celebrating, obviously.

Another reason to celebrate is ready to be called into action and make this milestone memorable!

Bookmark Greeting Card

Reading is my favorite sport. It’s a shame there isn’t a competition for it, because I’d be on the medal stand, for certain!

My most recent reading obsession has been “The Unselected Journals of Emma M. Lion” by Beth Brower. I started the first volume on December 27th and finished volume 8 less than a month later! Now, in the appropriate mourning period between what I’ve consumed of Emma’s own words and the release of her next journal installment (there are rumored to be close to 25 books when done), I’ve done what any self-respecting reading-crafter would do, and made a card that is also a bookmark gift:

The Stampin’ Up!®️ Hobby Haven suite had the patterned paper appropriate for book lovers, and the bookmark cleverly clasps onto the page you are reading (and the front of the card) with strips of self-adhesive magnet sheets:

Have YOU started the Emma M. Lion series? The first volume starts off slowly, but TRUST ME: Stick with it and you’ll come back to THANK ME!

Dinosaur Quarter Fold Card

Some cards just make you grin from the moment you start cutting paper. This one certainly did—because honestly, how can you not smile at a trio of darling dinos in perfectly coordinated colors?

For this design, I paired three of the 2025-2027 In ColorsTimid Tiger, Cloud Cover and Secret Sea —with a fresh pop of Old Olive. The bold contrast gives each dinosaur its own “personality,” while the embossed background panels add texture without overwhelming the scene.

But wait- there is more to discover as you dig in to this fun-fold card! We call it a “Quarter Fold”:

It’s a greeting card that works for all ages—kids will love the creatures, and adults will appreciate the wink of whimsy. It’s easier to make than you think: 2 card bases (one long, one wide) overlap each other, and close like the top of a box. To help you create your own, I’ve got a tutorial to download and print so you can refer to it anytime~

Working with In Colors is one of my favorite ways to keep my cards looking fresh without overthinking. Stampin’ Up! has done the color-coordinating work, so all I have to do is choose my favorites and let the creativity flow. With the August 2025 In-Color sale, even dinosaurs know to nod YES to new colors!

Birthday Jar, Retired For Sale

Sending my gratitude to all who attended the Stampin’ Soiree Open House & BOGO sale last week! If you couldn’t make it, or are looking for some sensational stampin’ STEALS, peruse the updated Retired Items for Sale page. From Stampin’ Up! stamp sets to embossing folders and dies, there are plenty of beloved crafting tools to collect.

I participated in a new catalog/new online product swap with my demonstrator friends, and this was my design for a birthday card using the Online Exclusive Sweet Jar bundle:

I was so sad to say goodbye to the Sketched Plaid background (which someone might snag from my retired items on sale), but gratefully, I can still use the Forever Plaid 3D Embossing Folder.

The colors are: Pretty Peacock, Timid Tiger, Darling Duckling, Strawberry Slush and Lost Lagoon. Embossing the jar lid in silver makes it feel fancy, while the banners from the Nested Essentials Dies brings the party vibe:

If you are planning to participate in the Virtual Crafting Happiness class on May 28th, order the Sweet Jar bundle from my store by the 20th (or alternatively, the Humble Home bundle will work, too) ~ then I can email you a discount code for $5 off the class fee!

Friendly Seagulls Valentine Cards

Now is the time to plan and create your Valentine cards, and since it’s Sale-a-Bration time at Stampin’ Up!, I knew you would enjoy using one of the products you could get FREE (with a qualifying order before Feb. 28th). The Friendly Seagull stamp set was the first thing I chose, because it’s so stinkin’ cute!

This card was speedy to put together because I followed the TGIF Sketch #tgifc507

A bit of diagonal embossing keeps the background clean and simple, but adds texture, while the seagull’s favorite snack becomes the added embellishment!

But if you dislike fussy cutting, I get it. When I don’t feel like trimming around an image, I reach for a punch to do the work, like the Heartfelt Hexagon. It made both the Simple and Stepped Up version of this card easy to create:

For the Stepped-Up version, I added dimension with the light Pool Party Stampin’ Blends marker and embossed the sentiments:

TIP: Order early in January to select Stampin’ Up! Sale-a-Bration items you love (like the Friendly Seagull stamp set), so you can order AGAIN in February for MORE FREEBIES! There are products to choose with each $60 you order, and some that are options at $120 orders:

Watch the tutorial for both cards here, plus get a sneak peek of a card I’ll be sharing later this week, then add the supplies to your cart below and start stamping your own:

While the little heart patterned paper I used was leftover from the Bee My Valentine Paper from last year, there IS a re-colored version of the same paper just released in the January Scrapbooking brochure and it’s called “Cute as Can Bee”. You could mix up the colors and create a Petunia Pop/Bubble Bath version of these cards! The heart design is in the lower right corner:

Hey Pumpkin card, Stampin' Up! Warms My Heart

Warms My Heart- Choose Your Own Adventure

A stamp set that covers multiple seasons and occasions is a good investment, and when it’s as cute as the Warms My Heart images & sentiments, there are so many stories to tell with it!

Do you remember the “Choose Your Own Adventure” book series? That’s what we did today during my Monday LIVE video on my Facebook Page & YouTube! I let those who were watching in real time CHOOSE the season, the background, the colors and the label shape for the card we created, and THIS is the result:

If you want to watch us make this card, here’s the video, and if you want to see some alternate options, keep reading:

This style of card would be just as cute with Designer Series Paper for the background, and created for Christmas!

With both of these cards (and the next) I colored the stamped images with Watercolor Pencils and blended them together with Wink of Stella, which is every crafters FAVORITE tool for adding a wash of SHIMMER & SHINE. However, it’s very difficult to capture in a photo! This one is as close as I could get: The texture you can see is really specks of sparkle!

Another option, still keeping it simple with the sentiment on a banner, but without the need to fussy cut (there are no coordinating dies for this set, FYI):

Just so we’ve used every piece of this set, here’s an autumn apple-picking version, in portrait:

When you purchase both the Warms My Heart stamp set and EITHER the Sketched Plaid background stampOR – the Forever Plaid 3-D Embossing Folder (back in stock the week of October 7th) during October 2024, I’ll email you a tutorial for another set of cards – one more for each season!
