The best way to teach about which adhesive to use for paper crafting is to make a card, right?
Since my daughter’s birthday is coming up, I had a reason to create an over-the-top greeting card to celebrate, and the Stampin’ Up! Wildflower Birthday Suite has all the cake and flowers that girl could want!
I’d love to see her face when she opens it and the three panels swing out!
Because there is ALWAYS a “right tool” for a job to make it easier and secure, there are also correct ADHESIVES for different parts of paper crafting. Adhering papers together? You can choose between Stampin’ Seal or Multipurpose Liquid Glue (your personal preference). Want something to pop off the page? That’s the job for Dimensionals! Need to attach a small embellishment or twine bow? Pick a Mini Glue Dot.
Learn more by watching the way this card comes together:
Some of the adhesives take time to master (I’m looking at YOU, Stampin’ Seal!), but once you practice and learn a few tips, you’ll have them mastered.
What’s YOUR go-to glue?? Which one do you still need help with? (Comments are found at the top of the post, under the date, and I really want to hear from you)
Are you in a rut of tying a ribbon around a card in the SAME WAY all the time? With so many unique ways to use ribbon on your hand-stamped creations, let’s explore just a few ideas! VIDEO TUTORIAL BELOW
First, try using your ribbon as a background: This Pool Party pompom ribbon is in the “Last Chance” section of my Stampin’ Store, and I’ve paired it with a Sale-a-Bration 2025 stamp set “Day to Celebrate” for this celebratory card. Consider planning ahead, because you’ll want some of this ribbon on hand once you can select this stamp set free (with a $60 order) in January!
Next, there are plenty of crafters who despise having to tie a bow! Weird, but true. So this one is a FAUX BOW and so easy to do (see video). NO BOW TYING REQUIRED. This non-traditional valentine is a second peek at a bundle coming in the January-April 2025 mini catalog called “Hugs for Love” and comes with the To The Point Label punch. The Cherry Cobbler & Gold ribbon looks lovely on Wild Wheat card stock, and gives it a use beyond Christmas:
Next up, not only is it pretty to have two different ribbon types, when you use twine to tie the second bow, it is less bumpy to mail! However, this project may get a little bumpy when you add a package of flower seeds to the pocket:
Another preview of some products coming soon…and the good news is that the Storybook Moments Specialty Designer Series Paper, Timeless Plaid Designer Series Paper AND the Petal Pink 3/8″ Scalloped Ribbon are all part of my Designer Series Paper & Ribbon Share
You’ll receive SIXTY-ONE 6″ x 6″ pieces of every Designer Series Paper in the Jan-Apr Mini Catalog AND January Online Exclusive products (not all paper is shown, just a sample). BONUS: Add a sampler of the 4 new ribbons (2.5 yards each), and you’ll have plenty of coordinating products to play with.
Have you ever created a gathered edge with a ribbon? Let it peek out from below a sentiment like this Black & Vanilla Large Check RIbbon ruffle on a piece of home-sweet-camper framed decor:
Yep- that’s another “first look” at the Adventure Together bundle (a January Online Exclusive) AND the Everyday Skies Designer Series Paper (included in the Paper Share).
And finally (or at first in the demonstration video), a unique way to tie a bow on a gift box- FAST. Just wait until you see how the bow keeps the ribbon in place! I used the Silver & White Sheer Ribbon:
AT LAST! Here’s the tutorial to watch:
Really looking forward to hearing what you think of these ideas of ways to use Stampin’ Up! ribbon on handmade greeting cards, gifts and more.
I wanted to give it a fall vibe, so picked a palette of Pecan Pie, Very Vanilla, Peach Pie, and Mossy Meadow (almost sounds like a recipe!). With a lot of layers and texture, it feels vintage and the sprinkle of three Drusy Embellishments adds a bit of glittery elegance.
TRIVIA TIME: “DRUSY” is an adjective that means “covered in minute crystals” and can describe the inside of a rock cavity that is lined with tiny crystals. These embellishments are truly gorgeous, but not easily mailable, as they do make the card quite bumpy. It needs a padded envelope if you are mailing it!
Peek inside the card:
Winterly Tree Tops is a part of the larger Nests of Winter Suite and features the beautiful birds. You may be interested in the coordinating craft kit called Nests of Christmas that is part of our crafting subscription service (Paper Pumpkin). It’s only available if you subscribe by October 10th, and if you use promo code HOLIDAY40 as a first-time subscriber, you’ll get your first kit at 40% off!
Now that the card is finished and shared with you, I’m looking forward to a nap!
All the research agrees: Being grateful – and showing it – leads to a happier and healthier life.
We already know creating something with your own hands brings joy and satisfaction, so combine the two and crafters are the most joyful folks on the planet!
The Splendid Autumn suite (arriving September 4th) provides the tools to both create and send gorgeous gratitude notes:
This card took only slightly longer to make than the 60 seconds shown in this reel, and uses a full sheet of the 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper on the outside, inside and envelope.
The theme for the TGIF Challenge #tgifc488 is retail therapy: What could make you feel better than new crafting supplies?
Did I throw you off by showing the inside of the card first? It’s one of my favorite gift card holders, and pops out to present a card or gift certificate. Did you know I offer gift certificates of any amount? My gift certificates are good for products OR classes/events!
Moving on to the FRONT of the card…
A sunburst is a terrific way to use up scraps of Designer Series Paper, and I know I’m always on the lookout for ways to bust my stash of scraps!
The shopping cart die cut with silver foil sheets just feels like the real experience of being on the hunt for the perfect item in store. I was going to fill it with little die cuts from the Crafting With You dies, but apparently it’s loaned out to a friend…the goodies in the Attention Shoppers bundle work just as well to give you the gist.
Here’s to filling your cart with a gift certificate to delight a friend, or all the supplies needed to make this card your own:

I failed to mention that this card is the ideal size to include a gift of ca$h, and here’s what I would stamp on the inside:
Basic masking and fussy cutting techniques are shared in the video you can watch here:
Did you know…
