Starting From A Sketch for SAB DSP

As we approach the half-way point of Sale-a-Bration (or SAB- the biggest party of the year for Stampin’ Up!), it’s time to show a little love for the Designer Series Paper (DSP) you could choose free with a qualifying order…and stick around for a late-January-ONLY offer!

Giving your creativity a few parameters makes it EASIER to use your imagination, and a SKETCH helps to narrow down your options.

Measurements for this sketch (you can adjust sizes to work for you):

  • Card Base: 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ scored at 4-1/4″
  • Layer One: 4″ x 5-1/4″
  • Layer Two: 2-3/4″ square on a 3″ square mat
  • Layer Three: 2″ x 3″ on a 2-1/8″ x 3-1/8″ mat
  • Layer Four: 3-1/2″ x 3/4″

Once you’ve found a fun template for a card, just plug in the pieces, and nothing could be easier than patterned paper!

You don’t need overalls to build this first card, just the Trusty Toolbox Designer Series Paper. Cut a tool from the paper for a focal point.

A version for mom using the Softly Stippled DSP. Substitute the strip on top with a length of lovely ribbon. The Brushed Brass Butterflies pull the gold thread from the bow to help catch mom’s eye.

Be BRAVE: Turn the sketch sideways or flip-flop it and it looks completely different! Flight & Airy DSP is delicate and delightful, the fluffy birds being my favorite! The sayings for the previous 3 cards all came from the Heartfelt Hellos stamp set, which is also a Sale-a-Bration option.

Next, the Sunny Days Designer Series Paper was delightful to pair with the “Playing in the Rain” bundle for a card to uplift and bring sunshine!

Finally, the Most Adored Specialty Designer Series Paper has Red & Pink patterns on one side, with gold foiled designs on the opposite sides: Use them for Valentines or Weddings! I embossed sentiments from the Heartfelt Hexagon stamp set on both cards.

I walked through making most of these cards with tips to help you choose patterns and layer nicely in this video tutorial:

SO WHAT’S THE SPECIAL OFFER??

While all of these papers are available through the end of February (while supplies last), for the next 3 days – through January 31, 2024 – place a $50+ order from my Stampin’ Store and you’ll receive a 4″ x 6″ piece of EVERY Sale-a-Bration Designer Series Paper as a thank you from me! That’s 30 pieces total.

Thanks for visiting and learning all about using a card sketch. Now get off the computer and get your fingers inky!

A Soft Sympathy

The patterned paper designers at Stampin’ Up! carefully consider how to help us find ways to use our Designer Series Paper past the use they were originally intended for. Often the reverse side of a paper intended for a holiday (like Christmas) has a generic design that can be used up after the occasion for other purposes.

In the case of the soft and pretty Winter Meadow paper, it’s not overtly “Christmas” and includes designs that could be winter, holiday or watercolor backgrounds for projects that exude kindness and compassion.

I chose to use the sprig design for a Sympathy Card, combining it with the new Heartfelt Hexagon bundle that dropped for World CardMaking Day in October (ICYMI).

I appreciate that the Hexagon punch does double duty for a unique tiled background AND the sentiment in focus! Add a pretty piece of sparkly ribbon and it’s design that could be used for many occasions (wedding, thoughtfulness, sympathy and birthday are included in the stamp set).

Making it easy for you to re-create this card, here are the supplies you’ll need! You can make at LEAST 48 of this style of card with the products listed here (although there are only 40 envelopes in the package):

Transform Lunch Bags into Gift Bags

Have you ever spent as much on the wrapping as you did on a gift? Save some of your gift budget with this hack!

Perhaps you remember the embossed kraft gift bag I posted earlier this year, and today I’ll show you how to use the Abundant Beauty Decorative Masks (back in stock!) to dress up your ordinary lunch sacks. Keep your “present”-ation game at the top, without breaking the bank.

I asked for a fall color combination suggestion and Nila (one of my Sprinkled Inkers) suggested Crushed Curry, Pecan Pie and Cajun Craze, all of which blended together over the mask beautifully!

Top it off by rolling your bag down twice and folding over a 2-1/2″ strip of Designer Series Paper. The Tartan Foil is an Online Exclusive and has a lovely shimmer! Stamp a sentiment on a strip of card stock, punch a banner end and clip the bag closed with a mini clothespin.

Next, I had to use the Snowflake mask (there are 7 masks in the set, 4 of which make a sunflower as I demonstrated last Monday). This one used Balmy Blue and Fresh Freesia for a winter feel:

Recognize the fan-fold top? It’s the same style I did earlier, and it tops off the gift so prettily!

This one uses a hexagon from the new Heartfelt Hexagon bundle (with a punch!) which can also be found in my online store.

Now a video tutorial for both bags with handy tips on using the masks:

Have fun transforming your bags from ordinary to EXTRAORDINARY!

Happy Mini Catalog Launch Day!

There’s electricity in the air when new Stampin’ products arrive, and apparently I wasn’t the only one dreaming of the September-December mini catalog last night…

I woke up at midnight to place an order for StampFest, and some of you were awake at that early hour to get first dibs on all the festive things, too!

Showing up now to give you the “What You Need To Know” about everything that launched today, September 6th:

FIRST: View the Mini Catalog like flipping through a catalog by clicking on the image above, or SHOP from the catalog by visiting the Mini Catalog Page in my Stampin’ Store.

SECOND: There are some ADDITIONAL Designer Series Papers that have been added to the Online Exclusives section that you won’t want to miss! A few of these papers coordinate with some of the products in the Sept-Dec Mini, and others are just versatile must-haves.

Speaking of patterned paper, one design released today is part of our Making A Difference program:

Each time the Walk in the Forest Designer Series Paper is purchased, Stampin’ Up! will donate $3 to the Marine’s Toys for Tots program! Some of the images of this paper coordinate with the Merriest Trees Dies and Beary Cute Punch, making holiday crafting easy and adorable.

THIRD: Our newest kit is the Christmas Everywhere kit! Your Christmas cards have never been this easy and it would be a fun activity to make your cards with your family after Thanksgiving Dinner, so you may stock up on a few boxes to assemble while digesting!

FOURTH: Feeling Festive already? Everyone has a favorite mug, and one of these may become yours!

FINALLY (for today, anyway): October 7th is World Card Making Day, and Stampin’ Up! is throwing a FREE VIRTUAL PARTY! You may already be registered (or plan to register) for our Utah County Fall StampFest on that day, but the good news is: YOU CAN DO BOTH! When you register for the event above, it will be recorded, so you can watch it later and craft along. There is also an adorable punch & stamp bundle (Heartfelt Hexagon) that is optional to order that they will be using to craft with, or you may substitute a product you already have.
