Stack, Cut, Shuffle, STAMP

So many marvelous Designer Series Papers, so little time? This technique for cutting a stack of patterned paper will have you making multiple cards at ONE TIME!

Begin by selecting 4 patterns of Designer Series Paper- I suggest using a maximum of two busy or bold patterns and add a subtle design and a tiny or monochromatic print, in 4 different colors (or different shades of the same hue). This will give you the CONTRAST you need when piecing them back together.

You can adhere the shuffled pieces edge-to-edge (as on the card, left) or leave a small space between them, giving a window-pane look (card on right). You may find that a design on the BACK of your paper works well, so go ahead and flip it over, if needed.

I used the Unbounded Beauty 12″ x 12″ pack- it’s part of the Designer Series Paper SALE this month, August 2024 and showcases the 2024-2026 In Colors, which are lovely together. With the few scraps left over, I added a piece to the inside layer and to the flap of my envelope.

Grab your patterned paper and follow along with me here, as you practice your cardmaking:

If you paper is directional, you’ll need to decide if you are creating PORTRAIT cards (tall) or LANDSCAPE cards (wide) **before** you cut your paper, and make sure it’s oriented the correct way.

The Unbounded Beauty cards were landscape, but I also needed some sympathy cards, and the blues in the Countryside Inn Designer Series Paper (also 15% off in August) seemed fitting. These are portrait versions of the Stack, Cut, Shuffle technique:

Inside the cards:

I’ll list supplies for both versions, starting with the Unbounded Beauty demonstrated in the how-to video:

A Card Folio to Gift Away

Dropping a Valentine on a friend’s doorstep may not be a custom any longer, but with today’s project, you can hang a set of hand-crafted greeting cards on a friends door as a gift that shows you love them.

I get my best ideas when I should be asleep, and this one came just as I was laying down last night, so I made a quick note on the notepad next to my bed and woke up ready to try it!

All you need is a 12″ x 12″ piece of non-directional (meaning there isn’t a top and a bottom to the design) Designer Series Paper (or DSP), a Simply Scored board, adhesive and 24″ coordinating ribbon:

Instructions (also in video):

  • Fold DSP diagonally from corner to opposite corner, with the pattern you want facing out.
  • Lay fold (longest side) of your folded paper (a triangle shape at this point) along the left side of the Simply Scored board and score at 1/4″. Turn and do the back side the same way.
  • Turn folded side to the top edge of the board and score at 6″ and 11″. Flip the triangle over and score the back side on the same measurements.
  • Open up your paper and fold along the 1/4″ score lines just off center.
  • Open again and fold the outside points (along the 6″ and 11″ lines) IN towards the center. Flip and fold the top points back-to-back, with the center folds at the bottom, creating two pockets on the outside.
  • Punch at hole (or two) at the top to tie together (leaving a loop to hang from is optional).

I used up a lot of the bits and pieces of the Softly Stippled Designer Series Paper I’ve had left over from other projects to create four simple cards (plus envelopes) to go inside the folio:

1″ x 3″ pieces of Designer Series Paper + your favorite punch
Or use a die with two contrasting patterns as background (Everyday Details Dies – NEW!)
Blend color on the plain Designer Series Paper images and emboss a greeting
Layer on 5-1/4″ strips from the same package of papers in varying widths and finish with focal point.
Don’t throw away the images on your Designer Series Paper that are on the edges! Cut them out and use them on the inside of your card!

In Colors on a Leafy Card, with Ann

What a delight to have my dear friend and Sprinkled Ink teammate Ann Olsen in the studio with me! We got to stamp and visit together, and reminisce about some of our fun times together as demonstrators over 27 years together. PLUS, we stamped a few cards with current sets of In Colors, the Layering Leaves stamp set and the BOUGH PUNCH, which is finally back in stock!

My card started with Very Vanilla card stock and the 2023-2025 In Colors (Copper Clay, Wild Wheat, Moody Mauve, Pebbled Path and Boho Blue). Ann’s card is the same layout on a white card stock base, but with 2022-2024 In Colors (Tahitian Tide, Starry Sky, Sweet Sorbet, Parakeet Party and Orchid Opulence).

Each colored section started out as 2″ x 1-1/4″ rectangles, which I forgot to mention during the video. Trim off the section on the top and bottom that hang over, after you adhere them to the front layer.

Which color combination do you like best? I usually prefer the vivid colors, but am feeling the fall weather and leaning into the vanilla/earthy tones today. The brighter colors are available through April 2024, so make sure you have ink refills and paper stocked up!

27 years ago, Ann had to ask me how to join Stampin’ Up! but I’ve become better at offering this opportunity to others! If you are interested in joining a creative community and expanding your circle of friendships, we have an AMAZING offer coming October 3-31, 2023:

Reverse Masking Thank You Card

Since the Bough Punch is on backorder, I promised to demonstrate card using Layering Leaves (featured as my August 3 for FREE stamp set) that DOESN’T need the punch, and I’ll be using this design as thank you cards this month because it’s quick to create.

The “Reverse Masking” technique is made even easier with the new Masking Paper from Stampin’ Up! and it was magic to demonstrate HOW to use it in this quick video:

The card layout was inspired by one of my Sprinkled Ink team members, Beverly Benson. We made a similar card at our June Retreat shoebox swap and I knew it would work with this fabulous set.

You’ll be happy to learn – or remember! – this classic stamping technique.

Add the Layering Leaves to any $50+ order from my Stampin’ Store in August and receive 3 free tutorials via email plus the consumable supples from me in the mail!

If you didn’t hear yesterday, my personal focus in August is on the Layering Leaves stamp set: This set coordinates with the Bough Punch – which is sadly being restocked from overseas – but you can still earn my 3 for FREE offer by adding the stamps to any $50+ order this month:

You’ll get a tutorial for 3 free cards via email AND the consumable supplies to make those 3 cards in the mail! I’ll also send any customer who orders the stamp set this month a FIRST NOTIFICATION message as soon as that pesky Bough Punch is back in stock, for you’ll want it with your stamp set.

Adhesive: Stampin’ Seal or Multipurpose Liquid Glue, Mini Glue Dots and Stampin’ Dimensionals

Meanwhile…

Here’s a simple fun fold card that you can create with your Layering Leaves stamp set!

Layering Leaves: August 3 for FREE

When best-laid plans go awry, we’ll just PIVOT.

I carefully curated 3 classy card kits for my customers who purchased the Layering Leaves + Bough Punch between July 31-August 31, 2023, only to find this morning that the Bough Punch is on backorder!

So let’s do this instead: Add the Layering Leaves stamp set to any $50+ order from my store during that time and you’ll still get the tutorials emailed AND the supplies sent to you, then I’ll send you a notification when the Bough punch is available! This may work better for you anyway, if you already purchased the punch 😀 as it won’t be a requirement to receive the projects.

The font for these sentiments are easy to read and elegant, and it won’t go out of style anytime soon.

Make sure you see the list of additional supplies you’ll need to complete the 3 card tutorials at the end.

Moving ahead as I had already planned, I showed a simple, classic card in my Monday Lunchtime Live Crafting video, and it’s perfectly simple:

Leaves are lovely to use, because they feel universal for anyone who needs a card, and adding a few sprigs and a double bow give it a bit of whimsy and sparkle. On August 14th, I will demo a project that *doesn’t* require the punch, so make sure to catch it!

The LUXE of Embossed Foil

When you want someone to gasp as they open their mail, emboss some FOIL PAPER.

This gold panel embossed with the Quatrefoil Tile Embossing Folder just feels so sumptuous as it catches the light, and the sparkle is mimicked in the edge of the ribbon, too!

The Quarefoil Tile is a STANDARD embossing folder, so it’s “sandwich recipe” is a little different that the 3-D folders I’ve been showcasing earlier this week. And remember, the sandwiches are also shown on the platform #1 that comes with your Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine, as well.

If you HAVEN’T had a chance to watch as I explain the differences in embossing folders, watch this video- It will teach you all you need to know!

Did you know that July is my birthday month and I’m GIVING gifts? I’m donating 10% of my sales to Operation Underground Railroad to help stop human trafficking AND another 10% to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, as chosen by the members of my Creative Juice Crafter’s Corner Facebook Group. I’m content with the many blessings I have, and it’s a pleasure to make a difference in the world when I can.

Diagonal Cut Card: Show BOTH Sides of the Paper!

Sometimes I obsess over WHICH SIDE of my pretty Designer Series Paper I should use, and if this dilemma sounds familiar, you will like today’s card design because it allows you to show BOTH sides of the paper!

This example features the Masterfully Made Designer Series Paper and a set of dies you may not have noticed yet. The Paper Florist dies will have you putting together breathtaking blooms that never wilt!

You’ll be seeing more of these flowers next Monday, but I also wanted to point out the incredible detail of the photographic style of the Masterfully Made DSP~ I did NOT tear any of the Lemon Lime Twist paper, that is just a flat layer, but it LOOKS 3-D!!

Next, I created this version with the patterns slightly separated, and used the Delightfully Eclectic Designer Series Paper:

When you watch the replay of my live demonstration, you’ll learn how this MEGAPACK of paper patterns gives expanded options for some of the newer products in our catalog, and offers versatile designs to enhance any project.

Final reminder that most of our Designer Series Papers are 15% off through the end of June, 2023! Don’t miss a chance to stock up with paper that has new colors and textures to keep you crafting through the summer…
