New at SU! Dino-Mite Backgrounds!

For our March New at SU! Blog Hop, we are bringing BACKGROUNDS to the front and center! You are sure to find unique ideas to save/remember as you hop through the projects our world-wide design team have created.

My card features a new Online Exclusive background stamp named Painted Stripes:

To show it’s versatility, I’m using this background to create THREE different patterns behind the dinosaurs on this birthday card any dino-obsessed kid would appreciate!

Painted Stripes can be used for vertical lines, horizontal stripes or stamped both directions to create a playful plaid pattern. I love that they are imperfect lines with variegated textures, because you can’t stamp it incorrectly! You can also use this large background stamp on the envelope to make it match (I masked off the address area with a post-it note, which you remove after stamping over it):

The Darling Dinos live up to their name, and are just as cute when stamped on colored card stock, for minimal effort in coloring. And hats on dinos? Cuteness factor x 1000!

I’ll list the supplies used below the roll-call, and am happy to serve you if you don’t have a U.S. demonstrator. Find MORE beautiful background ideas for your card creations at each of these places:

New at SU! Make it MINI Toadstools

Would you agree that everything is cuter when it’s TINY? The Stampin’ Up! demonstrators of the New at SU! Design Team are here to prove that small paper crafting projects are more adorable, as we showcase some of our 2025 January – April Mini Catalog products as MINI PROJECTS!

The Terrific Toadstool bundle (stamps + coordinating punch) was my choice from the J-A catalog, and since there are just 10 days left of Sale-a-Bration, I had to include the coordinating Toadstool Gardens Designer Series Paper (a free Sale-a-Bration item you can choose with a $60 order by February 28th).

And this is my tiny project: A Mini Loaded Envelope!

The idea came from fellow demonstrator Kimberly Smith’s Instagram page (@Paperedchef) and is a piece of cake to make from one piece of 6″ x 6″ paper. I’m sure I’ll be using this pattern for many occasions, as the finished 2-3/4″ x 4″ size is perfect for tucking in gift cards, stickers, temporary tattoos, tiny treats, tea bags, and even small embellishments such as twine!

Adding two layered circles with punches gives you a place to add some wee words and a small element, such as a tiny toadstool.

Quick how-to video:

New at SU! Fruit Salad for Sale A Bration

Good to see you here again – or for the first time! We have an international group of Stampin’ Up! demonstrators dedicated to bringing you “What’s New” at SU! each month and our January 2025 hop is all about Sale-a-Bration Coordination!

Sale-a-Bration is Stampin’ Up!’s biggest event of the year, where you can shop, host and join with EXTRA PERKS. We are focusing on the products you can choose FREE, and combining them with items from our other offerings to show you how they mix & match beautifully. I’ll show you how the Fruit Salad Designer Series Paper (a free Sale-a-Bration item with a qualifying order in your market) can be used with the Everyday Arches bundle just released in the Online Exclusives!

Yum…fresh pineapple takes the stage in this card! Isn’t it spectacular how the back side of this paper makes a mouth-watering background, while the pineapple fussy cut from the front stands tall as the focal point on the layered arches?

For card #2, I wanted to feature as much of the fruit as possible, so to make the mat a bit smaller, I traced the inside of the arch die just larger than the one I used to cut the patterned paper and hand-trimmed it so I could get one two on the front with the sentiment. Sure to bring sunshine to a friend:

Next, I created a trio of arches for this Thank You card using a few different fruits from the paper:

The last card shows the versatility of the dies ~ You can even create OVALS!

Living up to their name, you can mix up the fruits and patterns of this paper for a delicious, refreshing recipe every time. You’ll be seeing more of this paper from me as I squeeze the most out of my Creative Juice! Next, move on to Annette’s post featuring the “Dance with Me” Sale-a-Bration stamp set and remember to save or Pin your favorites along the way!

New at SU!- Tied Up with Bows

It’s Ribbon Week here on the Creative Juice Blog, and the New at SU! design team theme for December is “Tied Up with Bows” ~ so I went BIG with the bow on this slimline card, featuring the Happy Hibiscus, a NEW Online Exclusive bundle:

Wrapping a ribbon around a layer on your card gives it a nice finish, and you don’t see the ribbon from the inside of the card.

Before I tied the ribbon, I cut a length of the Silver & White Sheer ribbon in half down the center and laid two loops on my knot, then tied them inside the bow, giving it extra “fluff”:

The Happy Hibiscus bundle includes a 3-D Hybrid embossing folder (which cuts and embosses flowers at the same time, should you so desire), and I just pulled my Whisper White ink pad across the embossed Smoky Slate card stock to bring the embossing out.

I chose to HEAT EMBOSS the large flower, then watercolored it using Pretty In Pink ink and a Water Painter, before die cutting it out. The blossoms and leaves are also watercolored.

I will use this card for my next team member who promotes to Silver, though it would also be a lovely wedding card! Plus: a matching envelope. Finished size: 6″ x 3.5″

Before you move on to the next ribbon/bow project, what is your current favorite Stampin’ Up! ribbon? Tell me in a comment section (at the top of this post, by the date)!

New at SU! Non-Traditional Holiday Colors

Stepping away from the familiar reds & greens of Christmas with my international Stampin’ Up! demonstrator friends in the New at SU! Design Team, we are using this unique palette that mixes a pinch of pink with deep greens:

I selected the bird and boughs from the Winterly Tree Top bundle and paired them with a piece of the Season of Green & Gold Designer Series Paper.

The coordinating Paper Pumpkin stamp set from October – “Nests of Christmas” – provided sentiments for both front and inside of the card, in a font that matched the bundle from the Sept-Dec catalog.

Tip: Use the same Moody Mauve Stampin’ Blends markers you color the images with to “dye” the beige Earth Tones Shimmer Gems for sparkling “berries”. I also touched the other berries with the tip of the Wink of Stella pen for added shimmer, which is gorgeous in person, but doesn’t photograph well.

There are always strips of Designer Series Paper left over, so carry the theme to the inside of the card:

Remember! #nonakedenvelopes

Basic Beige is a neutral that is lovely to color on AND makes a card base you can write on, as well.

Is this a color combination you are ready to try? Share a creation using this palette on FB or IG and tag me @creativejuicebyloni ~ I also love your thoughts on my projects…scroll to top of this post to leave a comment on the left!

Off you pop to the next project by Diane, and more fun with unexpected colors! Make sure to see all~

3 Stampin' Up! Sentimental Wishes Tags for Christmas

New at SU!- Sketches are for Tags, Too

Sketches are a Stamper’s secret design tool, and not only do they work for greeting cards and scrapbook pages, sketches also help you master a GIFT TAG…and a beautiful tag will level up any gift!

For our October New at SU! blog hop, I selected 3 tag sketches from page 16 of the September-December Mini catalog and combined those sketches with a set of products that evoke classic Christmas vibes.

The sketches gave me a starting point for my creativity, and a suite of Stampin’ Up! products helped limit my options, which actually makes it easier to be artistic. All supplies are listed at the end of this post.

The Joy/Candle tag mostly features stamping the images from the stamp set:

The stocking tag shows how you can cut some of the images from the Designer Series Paper with the dies, which also match the stamped images:

Finally, the Very Merry tag puts the focus on the sentiment:

The wonderful thing about tags is that they dress up any gift, along with a bit beautiful ribbon ~ see how they make a Kit Collection box fancy? Remember that all the kits are ON SALE this month (see below).

But that’s not all! Tags are adorable on a greeting card, as well:

Not only are tags a miniature piece of art, they are also a terrific way to use up scraps! Try cutting some of your smaller pieces of card stock into tag shapes, and have them ready to pair with a sketch.

Tell me what you think of these tags- leave a comment link at the top of the post!

New at SU! More than Autumn

Hello Autumn, Hello Fall, Welcome Crafters, Welcome all! The international New at SU! blog hop team has been looking forward to sharing the bundles we love with you from the Stampin’ Up! 2024 September-December mini catalog, and I chose the MORE THAN AUTUMN stamp & die bundle to create a slimline card for any fall festivity:

When you can’t choose just one favorite taste of the season…choose them all!

To fit into a legal envelope, I made the Pecan Pie mat 4″ x 8.5″ and the Very Vanilla card that sits on top is 8.25″ x 7.5″, scored in half at 3.75″. It opens like this:

One idea of what to write on the inside: “My favorite Fall Festivity is YOUR BIRTHDAY! Hope it’s as sweet as you are, and filled with all your favorite things, too.”

Before you move on to see Annette’s awe-inspiring Artful Amaryllis project (or choose your own path through the hop), tell me your preferred seasonal sweet in the comment link at top!

New at SU! Elevated Embossing with Zinnias

Embossing folders add texture, dimension and visual interest to any paper crafting project, thus, the New at SU! Design Team is elevating your dry embossing techniques with our Blog Hop in August!

Have you ever used an embossing folder on a Window (acetate) sheet?

For this project, the Zinnia 3D Embossing folder gave a little pattern to the overlay that folds around the card, giving it two layers! TIP #1: Use your bone folder to give the window sheet a crisp fold in the center before AND after running it through the Cut & Emboss machine.

Because I adhered the back of the cardstock card to the inside of the window sheet on the back, I added a card stock layer on the back of the card so you can’t see the adhesive:

Carrying the theme through, I also embossed the flap of my envelope:

On the card inside the window sheet, I created a background with blending brushes and stamps from the Simply Zinnia stamp set, “built” Pretty in Pink flowers from the dies, then added a word strip to the top of the clear layer.

Tip #2: Cut a length of ribbon down the center, creating two thin ribbons and tie around the front layer for a double bow…let the loose strands add whimsy!

Explore other embossing folder ideas by hopping on over to Diane’s post featuring the Distressed Tile embossing folder, then catch the rest of the crafting crew’s exciting embossing projects:

New at SU!~ LEAVES, but Make ’em Metallic!

We’ve got an eye-catching theme for the July New at SU! Blog Hop~ putting the spotlight on some of the current METALLIC products Stampin’ Up! has to make your crafting super SHINY!

Though the extreme summer weather just ended (we are happy to be down to 102º Farenheit), and as much as I enjoy this season, I’m looking forward to the crisp feel of Autumn, so I created my cards using the Changing Leaves bundle (NEW to the Stampin’ Up! Online Exclusives) and the Dry Brushed Metallic Specialty Paper

Copper embossing powder for the leaf adds a second color to my mixed-metals, and a dot of Metallic Enamel Effects at the tip of each end of the sprig is the finishing touch!

It was so pretty, I made a second version! The softness of the embossed background and the separated Copper Clay Jute twine gives it an organic, woodland vibe.

Side-by-side, they reflect the details of nature- so lovely to imitate!

Don’t be too distracted by shiny objects, you’ve got more to see along the global “Make It Metallic” blog hop~ up next is Tricia with another new Online Exclusive product to get you holiday ready:

New at SU! A Lemony Sketch

You’re here to see how Stampin’ Up! card sketches from the 2024-2025 catalog (pg 22) can improve your cardmaking skills, and our International #NewAtSU design team is taking the assignment seriously!

This is the sketch I chose:

Here is how it inspired me:

You’ll notice that I didn’t use 3 panels, but allowed my banner to visually divide the lemon Designer Series Paper. That’s the thing about a sketch = it’s there to give you a place to start, then run in whichever direction your heart takes you!

Try mixing up products, too! I thought the Mediterannean Blooms lemon paper would make a fabulous backdrop for the image from the Filled with Happiness set, and it did. That Navy & Yellow combination is summery and sweet.

I cut both the navy banner and the lemon oval in half to stretch across the card and give room for the Congratulations sentiment. This would be a unique baby congrats card, or a wedding celebration! It’s just generic enough to fit any occasion.

Once you’ve left me a comment and have filled your cup with creative juice (and your cart with supplies), move along to see how all the other stampers used these wonderful sketches, then TRY ONE YOURSELF.
