Get to the Point

There are plenty of good men in the world, and the best are awesome dads! I decided to use the Truly Tailored bundle from the Occasions Catalog and the #tgifc159 sketch challenge to create a tri-fold card befitting those great guys:tgif2bchallenge2bbuttons2b2018-021

Here’s my card:

Then you open up the card a fold-at-a-time to see this:

Here are a few tips to create your own: I started with a 4-1/4″ x 11″ Crumb Cake card stock base scored at 5″ and 10-1/2″. Next I put the Tailored Tag punch all the way in on one end and punched (keep the tag you punched out for the front!):

Use a 4-1/4″ x 5″ piece of Designer Series Paper for the pointed flap (True Gentleman DSP used here, but sadly sold out…a good reminder not to procrastinate now that the retired list is out). I cut a 2-1/8″ square of card stock in half diagonally and adhered half on each bottom corner: Cut them off with your scissors for a perfect point!

Then you’ll adhere the DSP to the 1/2″ top of your card base that was scored. Stamp the sentiment on the punched out piece of card stock and use the Bow Builder punch to create a bow tie (which also retires at the end of May- order it soon if you don’t have it!) and attach it with a mini Stampin’ Dimensional or glue dot to the end of the pointed flap:

I stamped and punched out another greeting from Very Vanilla card stock to attach to the inside of the card, letting it peek through the window of the second flap:

You can use strips of DSP to add anywhere you feel needs a finishing touch. Finally, when you open up the second flap to the inside of the card, I added the “Happy Father’s Day” sentiment from the Guy Greetings stamp set:

Gift a Cookie

Need a sweet, inexpensive birthday gift for a neighbor, co-working or friend? Use the mini pizza boxes from Stampin’ Up! to put a cookie in as a single serving birthday cake!

They are food safe, with a glossy coating on the inside so your treat won’t soak through the box:

Your cookie will probably look better than mine, but it was the LAST cookie in my house. I would have taken another picture, but I was hungry, so I ate it. Don’t judge.

With this little all-in-one-gift, the card is on top of the box, like this:

It’s super simple to make, too!

A Paper Easter Basket

Easter is going to sneak up on us this year, as it is the 1st day of April and doesn’t us give much time for planning ahead once the calendar changes! No better time than now to do some Easter-themed crafting:

The Blossoming Basket bundle was love-at-first-sight: That Basket Weave embossing folder sparked such imagination!!blossoming basket bundle

It’s a bundle of products you can choose for Stampin’ Up! Sale-a-Bration (January 3-March 31, 2018) FREE with a $100 order! You could wait and purchase the embossing folder from the new catalog (coming in June), but why pay for it when you can get it at no cost?! And the stamp set is only available now.

I showed how to make this simple basket in my

Facebook Lunchtime Crafting LIVE video

yesterday, so feel free to pop over there to watch, but I actually like the smaller size better than the big one I did on the video, so start with an 8-1/2″ square piece of Soft Suede card stock (any color will work, really) for the basket base and score it at 2-7/8″ on all four sides. You’ll also need a 1″ x 11″ strip for the handle and 6 pieces that are 2-1/2″ (or 2-5/8″) square to emboss with the basket weave on the sides. Then you can follow the rest of the directions I shared to come up with a good sized basket like the smaller one in front:

Watermarked2(2018-03-06-1503)

Multipurpose Liquid Glue was the easiest to adhere the weave to the sides of the basket before assembling and to add the handle after you staple the sides together.

Yellow roses colored with the Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blends are so cheerful in the embellishment on the side! I demonstrated a little trick to give them dimension in the video. Don’t be afraid to fussy-cut some of these pieces: They look beautiful even if they aren’t perfect. Watermarked3(2018-03-06-1504)

Thanks for purchasing the supplies to create your own from my Stampin’ Store! and remember that you can select Sale-a-Bration products FREE with each $50 or $100 order through March 31, 2018.

Mix Tape, Stampin’ Style

If you are old enough to remember waiting by the radio with your cassette tape recording at-the-ready to capture your favorite songs, then you will appreciate the effort it takes to create an excellent Mix Tape.

One of my favorites comes from the movie(s) Guardians of the Galaxy: It takes me back to my childhood of the 70’s! (Click to listen to Vol.1 and 2 on YouTube)

A Triathlon Stamper!

Maybe I don’t have a medal to prove it, but today I completed a triathlon! At least 3 creative challenges at the SAME TIME. Amazing, but true.

I started a creative challenge with my Sprinkled Ink team today (and each Monday for the next 6 weeks), and the first challenge was to ink up a Stampin’ Up! stamp they had never used. The Musical Season bundle was sitting on my desk, just begging to be used…musical season.jpg

So I knew it was going to be a triple-threat when I saw the Global Design Project Color Challenge #GDP109 and the TGIF Sketch Challenge #tgifc129 :

This is the result of my creative triathlon:
