Simply Zinnia Thank You Card Slanted Background In Color 2024-2026

In Color Zinnia Card Duos

If there were a contest for the “most cheerful flower”, don’t you think ZINNIAS would take the prize?

Today’s card(s) feature the Simply Zinnia bundle (an online exclusive available now in my Stampin’ Store) as well as the 2024-2026 In Color products that will be in my store on May 1st!

This slanted background is a handy template to remember (or PIN!) because you can create TWO cards in about the same time it takes to make just one!

It all starts with a 6″ x 3-3/4″ piece of In-Color Designer Series Paper. Mark it at 2″ on the bottom long edge (on the back side of the design you want to use) and at 4″ on the top long edge. Then cut it from the 2″ mark to the 4″ mark. Layer each of those pieces onto a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Basic Black card stock and you are halfway done.

TIP: The leftover 6″ x 2-1/4″ piece of Designer Series Paper fits perfectly on the flap of your envelope, giving you terrific coordination!

Watch the tutorial (speed it up, if desired) to learn how to finish up the card:

And why stop at 2 cards when you can make 10? Two in each of the 2024-26 In Colors: Petunia Pop (shown above), Summer Splash, Peach Pie, Pretty In Pink and Shy Shamrock!

These colors coordinate beautifully, so you can even mix up the colors on the flowers- with the alcohol-based Stampin’ Blends markers, the colors bleed together smoothly:

Here are a few wonderful ways to collect the new IN COLORS:

In Colors on a Leafy Card, with Ann

What a delight to have my dear friend and Sprinkled Ink teammate Ann Olsen in the studio with me! We got to stamp and visit together, and reminisce about some of our fun times together as demonstrators over 27 years together. PLUS, we stamped a few cards with current sets of In Colors, the Layering Leaves stamp set and the BOUGH PUNCH, which is finally back in stock!

My card started with Very Vanilla card stock and the 2023-2025 In Colors (Copper Clay, Wild Wheat, Moody Mauve, Pebbled Path and Boho Blue). Ann’s card is the same layout on a white card stock base, but with 2022-2024 In Colors (Tahitian Tide, Starry Sky, Sweet Sorbet, Parakeet Party and Orchid Opulence).

Each colored section started out as 2″ x 1-1/4″ rectangles, which I forgot to mention during the video. Trim off the section on the top and bottom that hang over, after you adhere them to the front layer.

Which color combination do you like best? I usually prefer the vivid colors, but am feeling the fall weather and leaning into the vanilla/earthy tones today. The brighter colors are available through April 2024, so make sure you have ink refills and paper stocked up!

Product List

27 years ago, Ann had to ask me how to join Stampin’ Up! but I’ve become better at offering this opportunity to others! If you are interested in joining a creative community and expanding your circle of friendships, we have an AMAZING offer coming October 3-31, 2023:

Rainy Days with Roy G. Biv

The temperature fell almost 30 degrees overnight on Thursday night, with the arrival of a beautiful thunder/lightning show and rivers of rain! When you live in the desert, you don’t complain about water, and the cooler temperature is also welcome.

I’ve also been traveling a LOT, so I needed some time in my Stamp Studio and the Global Design Project #gdp409 challenge was the excuse I needed to bring a rainbow to a rainy day:

Roy G. Biv is the name to remember when you are putting colors in rainbow order (Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, Violet) but they can circle back around on a card (not so much on a rainbow in the sky)…feel free to start ANYWHERE in the lineup!

My colors were (in ROYGBIV order, not the order on the first card) Sweet Sorbet, Calypso Coral, Daffodil Delight, Parakeet Party, Tahitian Tide and Orchid Oasis (allowing Orchid Oasis to be both Indigo and Violet).

The disco ball is from a new bundle coming September 6th called Curved Occasions in black. OF COURSE, it needed bling! The champagne More Dazzle specialty paper is JUST like a disco ball, and a little strip on the top and bottom catches the light and gets the party started.

I cut the wave pattern using the Patchwork Pieces dies from all the colors and laid them out to line them up on 6 backgrounds:

SHHH…Don’t tell anyone, but I was so excited with the first one I tried, I ended up going in a backward order, and then got a bit befuddled on a few that didn’t survive…a complete paper crafter predicament. That’s the way the card crumples.

There is also a roller skate in the set, so I stamped it on the second card, just to see if I liked it.

What do you think? With – or without – the skate?

Seems fitting to post this card today to remember my brother, Mike (1977-2022) on his birthday (September 2), with such iconic images from the 1970s. Speaking of a spectrum of colors, this photo is of my siblings in 2004 and you can see how genetics can produce light and dark skin! Mike is second from the right, and I’m on the other end. Grateful to know I will see him again after this life and was blessed to have a short time with him here. Be intentional and loving in your time with your family!

New at SU!- Wild Wheat, So Refreshing

Welcome to the May 2023 New at SU! blog hop! As is our tradition with a new annual Stampin’ Up! catalog and the 2023-2025 IN COLORS (shown under our updated banner, above), we are here to help you fall in love with these hues!

I chose to use the In Color I liked **the least** to show you that it really can create a beautiful color scheme. Wild Wheat contrasts beautifully with Berry Burst (a returning core color I adore) and Bubble Bath (a NEW core color!).

My mini slimline card – finished size 6.25″ x 3.5″- uses the So Refreshing bundle that I had to collect to show off my creative juice (literally). It’s a clean card design accented by silver sparkles in the edge of the ribbon and rhinestone accents.

To get the plaid on the picnic blanket, I lightly tapped my Bubble Bath ink pad over the blanket die (included in the bundle) before running it through the Cut & Emboss Machine, then sponged the same color onto the tassels when it was cut out.

Wild Wheat is a GLUTEN-FREE color, so don’t be afraid to try it! I found my color palette in the 2023-2025 In Color Chart below, which you can download and print for reference.

Conversation Bubbles Stencil

Crafter Problems #763: When you haven’t had time to play with a stamp set & die bundle before it’s about to be retired!

Today I showed how to use the dies from the Conversation Bubbles bundle (about to retire from the Jan-April mini catalog) to create a stencil for the background of a card:

Inspired by Cathy Zielke‘s concept on Youtube, I figured I could make my OWN stencil, and it worked beautifully! What other dies would you try to make your own stencil with?

My problem is YOUR opportunity: Starting tomorrow (April 4th), you can shop the LAST CHANCE SALE in my Stampin’ Store to collect the Conversation Bubbles stamp set and Conversation Bubbles dies at a discount! The bundle was $46.75 originally, but if you purchase them separately, the total will be just $32 (while supplies last)!

Watch the video here (feel free to speed it up on YouTube to make it quick and easy):

I hope I’ll have time to spotlight this playful bundle one more time before they are gone for good.

Meanwhile, set an alarm to remind you to shop my Stampin’ Store tomorrow for the Last Chance Sale!

Color Me Creative

Don’t pretty colors make you happy? They can evoke many moods, for certain! I’d love to hear how the new 2023-2025 IN COLORS make you feel:

From left, the 2023-2025 IN Colors are: Moody Mauve, Wild Wheat, Boho Blue, Copper Clay and Pebbled Path.

While these colors won’t be available until May 2nd to purchase in my Stampin’ Store, I wanted you to get a good look! The best words I have to describe them are earthy, organic, and cozy. What are your descriptors?

Stampin’ Up! also “refreshes” their core colors ever 5-7 years, and I’m thrilled about some of these new and returning colors to our lineup:

Ready to see more? Watch this video for all the prettiness and new color family associations:

Do you see any that appeal to you? Leave me a comment with the colors you are anticipating the most, then set an alarm for May 2nd to get your color fix!

Retiring Colors & Last Chance List

A flurry of activity at Stampin’ Up! the past few days: Demonstrators were given a peek into the COLOR REFRESH that is coming with the new Annual Catalog on May 2nd – including the 2023-2024 IN COLORS – as well as a list of all the retiring products (see below).

You may come back tomorrow for a look at some of the NEW colors, but first, let’s talk about what is leaving.

These CORE COLORS are leaving the lineup to make room for a fresh new set of hues! If your favorites are on this list, you will want to quickly MAKE SURE YOU HAVE an ink refill for your ink pads, as well as card stock and any accessories in the same color.

When a big change like this happens, ink refills are the first thing to sell out, so don’t wait!

I AM happy that Fresh Freesia is going to step up and take a place in the SU! Subtle color family, but the other 2021-2023 In-Colors are also walking out the door…

I will share what I can tomorrow about the NEW & Returning colors.

The list of retiring products from the ANNUAL catalog and January – April Mini Catalog is also available now!

As you download or print these lists, you’ll notice that some have a discount by them: THE LAST CHANCE SALE BEGINS APRIL 4th, but if you have a favorite item, beware that some supplies are limited and may sell out before the sale starts. Once they are gone, they will NOT be restocked.

ONE THING I DON’T WANT YOU TO MISS OUT ON

is the Stamaparatus! Sadly, SU! had to make a legal decision to discontinue this amazing tool, and it’s indispensible for stampers…do you have one yet? ADD IT TO YOUR CART NOW!

With all the changes, I’m cleaning out my Stamp Studio in preparation for my BOGO SALE and NEW Catalog Open House on May 6th! Mark your calendar and come to this once-a-year event at my house in Hurricane, UT and bring a friend.

Thank you for letting me serve your creative needs – Loni

Radiating Stitches In Color Birthday Card

Have you taken the time to explore the new Online Exclusives in my Stampin’ Up! Store? Some things have been so popular, they are already backordered and we are waiting for more!

One new item I wanted to share with you is the Radiating Stitches Dies…these cutting tools will take ANY stamps you already have and give them a pretty frame or add a bit of whimsy with a layer of “stitching” around the edges of your layers:

I chose to follow the Freshly Made Sketch #576 during my Live Crafting today and used two In Color Combinations to demonstrate the versatility of starting with a sketch, and the ease of using a combination of colors curated in a color “family”.

It happens that from today through Mid-April, I have 10 family birthdays (and about 15 friend and team birthdays) to celebrate, so this was an opportunity to get prepared!

This version I turned sideways and used the 2022-2024 In Colors as my palette. A sketch can be turned any which-way!

And this card followed the portrait layout of the original sketch, plus I used a base of Very Vanilla with my colors from the (retiring) 2021-2023 In Colors. All supplies listed below to make it easy to add to your cart!

Holy Guacamole, It’s Your Birthday!

Do you ever get overwhelmed with all the options in your craft room? This quote, which I heard on a podcast recently, really resonated with me, and for crafters, it’s GOOD ADVICE:

“Creativity THRIVES on LIMITATIONS” – Sarah Jane Wright

It got me thinking about what helps me to be creative, and she was correct: When I have parameters to work within, I’m always more productive and imaginative! For instance, a card sketch is a limitation:

A sketch constrains you to stay within the prescribed boundaries, with a few options for making it your own, as I did by twisting the background for the Global Design Project sketch #gdp374 a bit for my card:

I also “limited” myself to (mostly) the 2022-2024 In Colors as my color palette. It seemed the best choice for a FIESTA!

I “sprinkled” the images from the Taco Fiesta stamp set (item #167032, available 1/5/2023) across the glimmer paper 2-3/4″ square to capture the feeling of a party (with chips & guac). You can watch the creation of the card in my video replay:
