New at SU! Dino-Mite Backgrounds!

For our March New at SU! Blog Hop, we are bringing BACKGROUNDS to the front and center! You are sure to find unique ideas to save/remember as you hop through the projects our world-wide design team have created.

My card features a new Online Exclusive background stamp named Painted Stripes:

To show it’s versatility, I’m using this background to create THREE different patterns behind the dinosaurs on this birthday card any dino-obsessed kid would appreciate!

Painted Stripes can be used for vertical lines, horizontal stripes or stamped both directions to create a playful plaid pattern. I love that they are imperfect lines with variegated textures, because you can’t stamp it incorrectly! You can also use this large background stamp on the envelope to make it match (I masked off the address area with a post-it note, which you remove after stamping over it):

The Darling Dinos live up to their name, and are just as cute when stamped on colored card stock, for minimal effort in coloring. And hats on dinos? Cuteness factor x 1000!

I’ll list the supplies used below the roll-call, and am happy to serve you if you don’t have a U.S. demonstrator. Find MORE beautiful background ideas for your card creations at each of these places:

New at SU! Make it MINI Toadstools

Would you agree that everything is cuter when it’s TINY? The Stampin’ Up! demonstrators of the New at SU! Design Team are here to prove that small paper crafting projects are more adorable, as we showcase some of our 2025 January – April Mini Catalog products as MINI PROJECTS!

The Terrific Toadstool bundle (stamps + coordinating punch) was my choice from the J-A catalog, and since there are just 10 days left of Sale-a-Bration, I had to include the coordinating Toadstool Gardens Designer Series Paper (a free Sale-a-Bration item you can choose with a $60 order by February 28th).

And this is my tiny project: A Mini Loaded Envelope!

The idea came from fellow demonstrator Kimberly Smith’s Instagram page (@Paperedchef) and is a piece of cake to make from one piece of 6″ x 6″ paper. I’m sure I’ll be using this pattern for many occasions, as the finished 2-3/4″ x 4″ size is perfect for tucking in gift cards, stickers, temporary tattoos, tiny treats, tea bags, and even small embellishments such as twine!

Adding two layered circles with punches gives you a place to add some wee words and a small element, such as a tiny toadstool.

Quick how-to video:

Get your fill of more adorable miniature projects by visiting each of these posts from demonstrators around the world~ remember to PIN or save your favorite projects to try:

Fault Line Cards- Paper Pumpkin Alternatives

I was thinking of cake.

This decorating trend is called a “fault line” cake, and after watching a few short videos (activating my sweet tooth), it occurred to me that the concept would translate into card making (minus the calories!).

Let’s try it using the December Paper Pumpkin “Notes from the Heart” stamp set from paired with card stock and Designer Series Paper to create these Fault Line greeting cards, starting with a thank you card:

I roughed-up the edges along the “fault line”, reminiscent of my Busted Canvas card, by rolling back the torn edges. It really gives the card character!

Next, a Basic Beige Birthday Card, with the Timeless Plaid Designer Series Paper (from the Stampin’ Up! 2025 January-April mini catalog) peeking through:

Since I hadn’t opened the Nature’s Sweetness Specialty DSP package, I ended my stamping spree with this shiny Congrats Card. The gold foil and embossing are gorgeous, so I’ll probably make a whole stack of these to have on hand! The Adhesive-Backed Heart Sequins will be available on January 7th:

Here are the materials needed for the Fault Line card:

  • 4.25″ x 9.5″ card stock base, scored at 5.5″
  • 4.25″ x 5.5″ card stock, same color (inside the front of the card to give it stability and cover DSP)
  • Designer Series Paper 4.25″ x 4″ -the main image showing through
  • Designer Series Paper -OR- card stock 4.25″ x 3″
  • Stamps, Ink pad, embellishments (as desired)

Learn how to make this fault line card (with a twist) on Monday 12/30 during Lunchtime Live Crafting on my Facebook Page and YouTube channel at 12:30 MT. The replay will be posted here on my website later that day.

Don’t miss a Paper Pumpkin kit! The January kit Hearts for You will be oh-so-loveable, and I always share exclusive alternate projects using just the stamp set and ink (similar to these) with my subscribers in my Paper Pumpkin Patch email. Subscribe NOW by clicking the image or link above:

3 Stampin' Up! Sentimental Wishes Tags for Christmas

New at SU!- Sketches are for Tags, Too

Sketches are a Stamper’s secret design tool, and not only do they work for greeting cards and scrapbook pages, sketches also help you master a GIFT TAG…and a beautiful tag will level up any gift!

For our October New at SU! blog hop, I selected 3 tag sketches from page 16 of the September-December Mini catalog and combined those sketches with a set of products that evoke classic Christmas vibes.

The sketches gave me a starting point for my creativity, and a suite of Stampin’ Up! products helped limit my options, which actually makes it easier to be artistic. All supplies are listed at the end of this post.

The Joy/Candle tag mostly features stamping the images from the stamp set:

The stocking tag shows how you can cut some of the images from the Designer Series Paper with the dies, which also match the stamped images:

Finally, the Very Merry tag puts the focus on the sentiment:

The wonderful thing about tags is that they dress up any gift, along with a bit beautiful ribbon ~ see how they make a Kit Collection box fancy? Remember that all the kits are ON SALE this month (see below).

But that’s not all! Tags are adorable on a greeting card, as well:

Not only are tags a miniature piece of art, they are also a terrific way to use up scraps! Try cutting some of your smaller pieces of card stock into tag shapes, and have them ready to pair with a sketch.

Tell me what you think of these tags- leave a comment link at the top of the post!

New at SU! – Trucking Along with Sunny Thoughts

Did you know there are products online that aren’t in the Stampin’ Up! catalog? The New at SU! Design Team wants to make sure you know how AWESOME our Online Exclusive products are!

Occasionally we get a product that we know will be a runaway hit…and the Trucking Along Bundle was one of those which sold out the first stock in just a few days, then AGAIN just this week you snagged up all the punches we had in the Utah warehouse! The stamp set is still available in the U.S. market, and the TRUCK BUILDER PUNCH has been reordered (though it’s coming from overseas, so it may take up to 90 days…). Thanks for being patient while we restock.

The photopolymer stamp set + coordinating punch covers everything from Summer to Christmas, and really delivers crafting happiness:

For my card, I used an inch and a half of a paper straw glued to the back of the truck and slightly flattened out (which is why it has to be paper, and really a much better use for a paper straw than drinking….) to slide along the linen thread! You may want to use two layers of Thick Basic White card stock to make the truck heavy enough to slide easily, or use a mini glue dot to attach a penny to the back of the truck.

The pickup is packed for a beach adventure and the sun is radiating! You’ll have a load of fun making it slide back and forth along the linen twine. I’d love to hear your thoughts about this card!

While some products will stay a while in the Online Exclusive section of our Stampin’ Store, some may be LIMITED to the supply on hand, and supplies in each market may vary. New Online Exclusive products will be introduced in MARCH, JULY and NOVEMBER. You’ll want to visit all the other posts in the July New at SU! New at SU!- Wild Wheat, So Refreshing

Welcome to the May 2023 New at SU! blog hop! As is our tradition with a new annual Stampin’ Up! catalog and the 2023-2025 IN COLORS (shown under our updated banner, above), we are here to help you fall in love with these hues!

I chose to use the In Color I liked **the least** to show you that it really can create a beautiful color scheme. Wild Wheat contrasts beautifully with Berry Burst (a returning core color I adore) and Bubble Bath (a NEW core color!).

My mini slimline card – finished size 6.25″ x 3.5″- uses the So Refreshing bundle that I had to collect to show off my creative juice (literally). It’s a clean card design accented by silver sparkles in the edge of the ribbon and rhinestone accents.

To get the plaid on the picnic blanket, I lightly tapped my Bubble Bath ink pad over the blanket die (included in the bundle) before running it through the Cut & Emboss Machine, then sponged the same color onto the tassels when it was cut out.

Wild Wheat is a GLUTEN-FREE color, so don’t be afraid to try it! I found my color palette in the 2023-2025 In Color Chart below, which you can download and print for reference.

New at SU! – Spell It Out!

With all the awesome alphabet products Stampin’ Up! currently carries, the New at SU! design team is showing up to demonstrate ways to say what you want to say in our March 2023 Blog Hop!

I’ve paired the Alphabet a la Mode dies with the Greatest Journey dies to create a card of encouragement for someone who is working toward a goal:

The trickiest part of this card was making sure I cut out the letters the same distance from the top of each strip of card stock, and to remember to keep the inside of the letter “A” to adhere inside the negative image. I did add an adhesive sheet to the back of each 7/8″ x 4″ piece of card stock before die cutting, so I could easily adhere the strips to the card AND use the letters I cut out for another project.

TIP: Use a piece of washi tape to hold the letters in place as you run the dies through the Cut & Emboss machine!

After that, it was all downhill (so to speak): die cut the runner and mountain from Basic Black, and layer the card onto a black mat.

I stamped the “This Moment” sentiment inside the card, because we don’t always recognize that our hard work now will pay off later.

Now, discover MORE ways to use letters and alphabets in your paper crafting with these ideas from our International New at SU! Group of Demonstrators:

New at SU: This Piggy is Giving a Gift Card

Giving a gift card makes everyone happy: It’s easy for you to buy, and the recipient gets to choose what they want. But if it seems “impersonal”, the New at SU! design team is here to show you how to make gifting (and getting) a gift card EXCITING!

This Birthday Piggy is scooting in on a gift box that doesn’t even hint at what’s inside:

It’s a charming surprise when you open the box and a gift card pops up:

Don’t worry…it’s a simple box to make and the mechanism is a piece of (birthday) cake! Let me show you how:

This is my fancy project sketch and dimensions (bold lines are where you will cut). It may help as you follow along with the video tutorial (feel free to pause the video as you learn). You can get both pieces from one sheet of 8.5″ x 11″ card stock.

Once your box is assembled and decorated, simply attach your gift card to the front panel of the pop-up piece using a few glue dots!

I’ll list the supplies below and am happy to serve you if you are in the U.S. and don’t have a demonstrator. Now make sure you hop along to see the other clever gift card holders our International creative team are sharing…click a link below:

New at SU! In-Color Happiness

New Catalog, New Colors, New Stamps…and we can’t wait to share it all with you! Today we are featuring the 2022-2024 In-Colors that made their debut this month and as you visit the website of each of our International demonstrator design team, make sure you PIN your favorites to remember for later.

Bright and bold, I adore these new colors, and I wanted to show how lovely three of them (Parakeet Party, Sweet Sorbet and Orchard Oasis) coordinate in WATERCOLOR:

The Happiness Abounds bundle was perfect for this simple technique! Here are the easy steps:

  1. Heat emboss the flowers and leaves with white embossing powder on thick Basic White card stock.
  2. Squeeze your ink pads (while closed) to get a bit of ink inside the lid of your case, then open the ink pad and pick up a bit of ink from the lid using a water painter. (Don’t pick up ink directly from your ink pad). TIP: Start with a light wash of color and add more as desired..
  3. Use the dies to cut out the watercolored flora using the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss machine and add to your project with liquid glue or dimensionals.

Putting these flowers onto one of our new striped Emboss Treat bags makes me ready for the next birthday or wedding gift I need to wrap.

Before you move on to Andrea’s pretty project (or click anywhere on the list to see more In-Color Inspiration), tell me which In-Color matches your personality!? For me, I think it’s going to be Tahitian Tide (which I didn’t even use on this project!).
