“Multi-Crafting”= the act of creating a greeting card for more than one purpose

You know you are an avid paper crafter when you can’t bear to throw away “useable scraps” of Designer Series Paper and now I feel justified in saving the strips from my Gingham Gala paper pack: It was the theme of #tgifc213

WHY this DSP isn’t carrying over into the new catalog is beyond comprehension, but make sure you order your Gingham Gala paper stack before it’s gone- or by June 3rd- whichever comes first.

I demonstrated how to make this card on my Facebook Page for my weekly live crafting video today and it’s so adorable~ Do you ever stamp an image that just makes you giggle with delight? Totally happened here.

Since I was Multi-Crafting, it occurred to me that I could do another version with a sneak peek of a new stamp set (coming in the 2019-2020 catalog on June 4th) that would work with #GDP191

And that was just the beginning of a full-blown gingham-style craft-attack:

The good news is I have a bunch of thank you cards to mail out to customers, I’ve used up most of my Gingham bits & pieces, I can check off my Monday LIVE video on my task list, and can participate in two creative challenges. I think I’ll take the rest of the day off 🙂

Out with Old, In with New

The end of a Stampin’ Up! catalog is bittersweet as I hate seeing things I have loved retire, and I’m also excited about what’s coming! Today I used a retiring stamp set and a coming-soon ribbon to create a card of enCOURAGEment on my weekly FB Lunchtime Crafting LIVE broadcast (which happens every Monday at 12:30 Mountain Time, by the way).

It started with the Global Design Sketch #190

When a friend just needs a little encouragement, a card is a tangible piece of your support and this one almost made itself:

The colors are Petal Pink and Gray Granite and Whisper White and the stamp set is Ribbon of Courage (retiring June 3). The ribbon is NEW Petal Pink Organdy Stripe (coming in the new catalog on June 4th) with a few silver metallic pearls sprinkled on to give it some bling.

Sale-a-Bration Coordination: Lasting Lily

Today I’m going to spotlight the Lily Framelit Dies that cut out all the blooming beauty of the Lasting Lily stamp set that you could choose free with a $100 order before March 31, 2019.

It was good luck that the Global Design Sketch Challenge #GDP178 sketch and the TGIF Challenge #TGIFC201 color combination combined perfectly to create my card:

In addition to the framelits include pieces to cut out the flowers and greenery, but there are two label dies that perfectly frame most of the sentiments in the stamp set:

**A tip for ensuring your stamped images fit in the framelits for the stems and leaves: When mounting your stamps, lay the photopolymer stamps face down on your surface to let the stamp assume the correct shape, then set the clear block on top of it to pick it up for stamping.

Because photopolymer stamps are pliable, they can be manipulated into different shapes, so if you put it on with your fingers, it may stretched in a way the stamped image wouldn’t match the framelit.

It felt like keeping this card simple really let the lilies shine!

Share What You Love

Magic happens when you share what you love and I have proof!

Today I decided to create from scratch LIVE on Periscope. I had the #GDP134 sketch and a bundle of new products (by cheery happenstance a suite called “Share What You Love”) and I pushed the “Go Live” broadcast (I was a bit nervous, to tell the truth).

As I was explaining that these new products from the 2018-2019 Stampin’ Up! catalog will be released a month early (on May 1st), a new stamping friend (Cathy) and an old stamping friend (Esther from England!) jumped in to visit and craft {virtually} with me.

The first thing I did was stamp 4 simple note cards and matching envelopes using just the items in the “Just Getting Started” bundle (the notecards are a free gift when you purchase the bundle):

I knew these would fit nicely in a simple “envelope folder” made of two regular Very Vanilla envelopes put together (tuck the flap of the first into the second envelope and then lick-n-stick the flap of the 2nd envelope to the back of the 1st!)

We were crafting along and they started to share their opinions and ideas: They helped me pick the pattern of paper (from the Share What You Love Specialty DSP that will be included with the “A Little More, Please” and “Gotta Have It All” bundles).

Then we started playing around with the focal point on the belly band that would keep the folder closed: All circles? No. A Label? Yes. Pool Party or Grapefruit Grove? Pool Party with Bermuda Bay ink. Ribbon? Yes~ A loop!

…and by the time we were done, we had created a masterpiece together:

That’s what I mean by MAGIC! A group of crafty people could meet virtually on social media who share a love of papercrafting and create something so lovely, it’s just enchanting. It’s part of what makes crafters such a blessing to the world: We make pretty things and welcome all into our circle of friendship.

Epic Celebrations & Happy Accidents

If you watched my Lunchtime Crafting video on my Facebook Page yesterday, you saw me create this card (and a few alternatives) from the Epic Celebrations set (one you can choose FREE with qualifying order during Sale-a-Bration~ until March 31, 2018):

It’s a super easy technique called “Reverse Masking” and the colors were suggested on the #gdp125 color challenge:

I love coloring Dazzling Diamonds glimmer paper with Aqua Painters and ink refills to match any project!

But what you DIDN’T see is the second card I made (since I had to cut a piece of card stock to create one card, I might as well make TWO cards). I accidentally dropped a stamp inked in Melon Mambo on the finished product:

But as Bob Ross was fond of saying, “We don’t make mistakes {in art}, just happy accidents!” So I pulled out my Classic Label Punch and created some arrows to cover it up:

Lesson learned: Don’t be afraid to make mistakes ~ Uncommon solutions may be discovered!

A Triathlon Stamper!

Maybe I don’t have a medal to prove it, but today I completed a triathlon! At least 3 creative challenges at the SAME TIME. Amazing, but true.

I started a creative challenge with my Sprinkled Ink team today (and each Monday for the next 6 weeks), and the first challenge was to ink up a Stampin’ Up! stamp they had never used. The Musical Season bundle was sitting on my desk, just begging to be used…

So I knew it was going to be a triple-threat when I saw the Global Design Project Color Challenge #GDP109 and the TGIF Sketch Challenge #tgifc129 :

I admire demonstrator Brian King’s style: It’s always clean and simple and I confess I’ve CASE’d (Copy And Selectively Edit) more than one of his designs. This week, he was the designer at the Global Design Project:

It happened that a sneak peek stamp set from Stampin’ Up! was sitting on my desk (Color Me Happy), so I pulled it out early this morning to create my card inspired by his:

Designer Series Paper Takes the Spotlight

Remember when I said the only paper products Stampin’ Up! offered 25 years ago were white? It makes me grateful for all the amazing choices we have in 2017! Especially when they are as sumptuous as the “Whole Lot of Lovely” Designer Series Paper pack:

This paper (DSP) popped into my mind when I saw the #GDP102 sketch:

Plus, I’m crushing on the Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon right now (it’s on SO MANY of my latest creations, but it just makes the *loveliest* bows…), so here’s my take on the sketch:

The sentiment (stamped and die cut from the Lovely Friends bundle) just pops off the card, but the paper definitely is the star of the card!

Sweet Cupcake CASE

In the world of stamping, to CASE means to “Copy and Share Everything”: This lines up nicely with the quote, “Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery” which ironically enough, is attributed to both Oscar Wilde and Charles Caleb Colton…so clearly, one of them was imitating the other!

Which brings us to my project today: This week’s Global Design Project Challenge #GDP100 was to “CASE the Designer” and there are many creations worthy of copying, but I was immediately drawn to the adorable colors and simplicity of Allison’s Coffee Cafe card: alisonglobaldesignproject

I’m not a coffee drinker, but would love a pink hot cocoa cup with a dollop of whipped cream!

To CASE her card, I put my own spin on a treat using the Sweet Cupcake stamp set (one of our photo-realistic 3-step stamps) and demonstrated this project on my weekly Facebook Lunchtime Crafting LIVE:

Pop-Up Card on a Global (Design) Scale!

Usually I’m a simple crafter, but this card demanded to be spectacular for the Global Design Project Colour Challenge…

The background scenery really took center stage on this card: The Hardwood and (new) Sheet Music background stamps were combined with the Layered Leaves embossing folder to create a sumptuous canvas for the Lovely Friends stamp set…but wait until you see the inside!

Every time I open this card, I have to say “TAA DAA” out loud!!! This is the first time I was able to use the Lovely Laurel Thinlits and they were actually surprisingly simple:
