Keep the kids busy during the holidays creating these fun fellows (and Santa’s official sidekick):

They were simple to assemble and can smash flat to mail in a card as a delightful surprise! All you need are a few supplies:

And here’s a quick tutorial I created to show you how easy and fast they are!

Simple Thoughts for a Friend

Do you ever avoid sending a note to a friend because you think you have to create a artistic masterpiece to carry your thoughts? I’m guilty of this, but I’m working on sending a message or a card *AS THE INSPIRATION HITS ME*

When I saw the sketch challenge on TGIF Challenges today, the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper Stack came to mind and I decided to make a simple card for a friend:

Watermarked2(2017-12-08-1109)

Nurturing a friendship takes time and effort and sometimes a quick card to say, “I’m thinking about you” lasts longer than a text or even a phone call. Some things you could include in your card may be a bullet list of 5 things you love about your friend like:

  • Thanks for seeing the best in me and others.
  • You never let me wallow in self-pity and I appreciate your honesty.
  • Of all your features, your curly hair and dimples are what I see when I imagine your lovely face!
  • When I’m with you, I know I’m going to laugh heartily and it feels so good!
  • Isn’t it great that we can pick up right where we left off even if we haven’t seen each other in years?

My original card was 4.25″ square, but I had another piece of leftover Pool Party card stock, so I made a 3.25″ note card that would be perfect on a gift, too.

Now I’m going to mail it to a friend today because my goal for the year has been to mail a card each day and I’m almost there!

Out with the Old, In with the New

year end sales LONI

Year end means taking stock of inventory and clearing out to make space for new products, so it’s time for the year-end sale! Some items are discounted and others are ready for retirement. A few things will be available in next year’s annual catalog as individual items, but not as a bundle (which saves you cash now).

Here is a short sampling: The Smitten bundle makes lovely cards and gifts, but are only available while supplies last~

And the Watercolor Christmas Card Kit (SO EASY and fun!) and coordinating stamp set is on sale, too:watercolor

I’ll be showcasing the Watercolor Christmas Card kit in my Monday Facebook Live Lunchtime Crafting ~ with ways to “dress it up” and use it in a few new ways other than cards, too! Join me on my Creative Juice by Loni page at 12:30 MST on Monday, December 4th.

I Like Big Stamps and Blending

What is the biggest stamp you own? Aside from background stamps, one of mine is the flower from the You’ve Got This stamp set and it is fabulous for coloring with the new Stampin’ Blends (available November 1st in my Stampin’ Store). Look at the impact one large image can have when paired with a delicate background:

Thinking this card will surely boost the morale of a good friend!

Card in a Box

If you have a passion for paper, you’ll be thrilled to know that during October, you can buy 3 of select Designer Series Paper from Stampin’ Up! and you’ll get one FREE! You can mix and match as you stock your paper pantry, too.

Today on my Facebook Page, I demonstrated how to create a “Box in a Card”:

Watermarked1(2017-10-02-1313)

You’ll be seeing these adorable cards (with a box inserted) popping up all over the place! I used the Birthday Memories Designer Series Paper and Birthday Delivery stamp set to embellish the card, but my favorite detail is the Mini Bow on the top of the box.

Watermarked4(2017-10-02-1312)

I’ve been wanting to find a reason to use these bows, so I’m tickled to find that they are perfect for this box-in-a-card.

Happy coincidence: If you happen to be reading this between October 1st-10th of 2017, we are also celebrating World Card Making Day with a sale on Fast Fuse and stamp sets that match our Designer Series Paper Sale:

Support a Fighter

October isn’t only about ghosts and goblins, it’s also about the girls! This month, send a pink card to someone who is fighting (like a girl) through Breast Cancer:

Don’t stop with PINK…you can make this card in any color you want to show your awareness, love and concern for those in any battle! This is one of my favorite charts showing ribbon colors for causes. I made these versions of the card with colors for Type 1 Diabetes (blue and gray with a drop of blood), Alzheimers (purple) and Heart Disease (red) :

Simply Citrus

My Stampiversary is over, but the last thank you cards need to go into the mail. It seemed only natural to make some “creative juice” cards to encourage the customers who ordered from my Flash Sale to live with ZEST!

Using the words from a stamp set as your background can make a dramatic impact: For this card, I stamped once with my stamp loaded with Lemon-Lime twist ink, then stamped again without re-inking it and then ONE MORE TIME for the lightest impression.

Thanks to the Global Design Project for coordinating the color challenge to support my theme (not really…it was just good luck):

gdp105_colour_challenge

I added a little Daffodil Delight to the palette so I could include the lemon, and now I’m off to write my appreciation to my customers!

Get Togethers & Card Starters

I’m blessed to have so many great friends on my Stampin’ Team and in August, some of us met up for lunch and stamping one Saturday:

Swapping ideas is a staple activity at any meeting, but we chose to exchange “Card Starters” this time: Some crafters call them card candy, but they are just small focal points you use on a greeting card and I’m sharing a few of them today.

Mary McGill used this Adirondack chair from the Seasonal Layers thinlit dies, which captures the last sunset of summer in perfect form. Used on three different cards, it’s fun to see how a card starter can inspire many different ideas!

Next is Chelle Scott’s gorgeous version of “Deck the Halls” from the Carols of Christmas stamp set: The layer of Dazzling Diamonds glimmer paper catches your eye when you see it in person and no matter which way you look at it, it’s a fabulous focal point for a Christmas card.

Mine was a simple label from the Merry Little Label bundle in the new Holiday Catalog, punched and layered on a silver glimmer paper layer. I love how the new Everyday Label punch layers beautifully on the Lots of Labels Thinlits dies.

While my Stampin’ Team is named “Sprinkled Ink”, we have a larger group that meets together in person and online called “Stitched Stampers” which encompasses demonstrators in the Utah area and beyond: We include any demonstrators (and potential demonstrators) who would like to work on their business with like-minded, positive and uplifting folks and there is always room at our table for more stampin’ friends.  Join my team anytime!

Check back for more card starter samples soon…
