Starter Kit+, Paper Sale & Congrats Tag

Rounding up all the JUNE 2023 Stampin’ Up! goodness you need to know about in one place!

Let’s start with a story.

While other teenagers were taking the ACT for college prep and planning out their lives, my goal as a Junior in High School was to work at Disneyland or fly the Millennial Falcon. When my career counselor dashed the dreams of flying the falcon, I thought perhaps I’d drive an 18-wheeler—the closest comparable for a girl with terrible vision who knew she wouldn’t legally be allowed to fly a plane.

When I eventually had to choose a major in college, I chose Travel & Tourism for the adventure it promised, then I got married just before my senior year and ended up at a different university that didn’t offer Travel as a major, so I switched to (and graduated in) Music Education.

Fast forward a few years and with two babies to take care of, I gave up teaching piano lessons for a season to be a mom. It was wonderful, but I needed adult conversation and affirmation (funny how no one gives you kudos for a clean bathroom or balanced meal). It was at that time I “discovered” rubber stamping and what a fabulously flexible and comfortingly creative career that has been!

While I started for the fun and joy it brought (and a reason to “play” in the evenings at workshops with women who connected through creativity), I’ve STAYED for the relationships…many of them gathered into the Sprinkled Ink Team. Supporting my creative community makes me thrilled to get up in the morning, and Monday is my favorite day of the week, for I get to “see” you on my YouTube/Facebook lunchtime crafting!

30 Years of Stamping

It’s a BIG milestone to commemorate: Today is my 30th Stampaversary!

That’s a looonnggg time to have a hobby AND a career that I love, and every day has been a joy!

I had just given birth to my second child when I joined Stampin’ Up! in 1992 and while I strongly feel Motherhood is a noble calling, I REALLY needed some adult conversation and a talent that made me feel validated. My babies were wonderful, but they never said, “Good job! You are so awesome!” (until they grew into adults).

That’s why I started… and I stayed because I found a family of other creative people who loved making and sharing pretty things: Some are part of my team and others are life-long customers, and some go back-and-forth from one to the other. It’s a privilege to help others discover their inner artist, and to find validation and joy in their talents.

What makes YOU happy and brings you satisfaction? If you are looking for a purpose and passion which spreads sunshine to others as well, there is a place for you with Stampin’ Up! Come sit by me.

Now, about that “Celebrate You” card… I gave my team a challenge to make a project inspired by sunflowers, and this was mine. The supplies will be listed below, and to make the background, I spritzed a piece of Fluid 100 watercolor paper with water, then used my clear blocks to pick up ink from my stamp pads and rubbed onto the wet paper. Once it was dry, I cut out the sunflowers and frame from Soft Suede card stock that I had pre-adhered adhesive sheets to, then they stuck to the front of the watercolored background. Trim around the edges and adhere it to a card base!

I’d like to think it’s because of my Stampaversary that SU! is having a 24-hour SALE on all stamps excluding hostess sets) in the Annual Catalog tomorrow (9/15/22)

If you choose to take advantage of this and add your favorite stamp sets to your cart, don’t forget to:

  • Stack on the savings by including some of the September Weekly Deals to your order (new deals arrive on Thursday)
  • Add your Perfect Partners bundle or dies to match a set you already have ~ these exclusive dies are only available in September (while supplies last).
  • Want to craft with us on World Card Making Day? You can add the Warm Welcome bundle (or one of the other suggested sets) to the same order. It’s a brand new set that will be in the 2023 Jan-June mini catalog!

Carried By Your Kindness

It’s been 2 1/2 months since my brother passed away unexpectedly and my mother had a heart attack on the same day (mom is doing well after they put in a stent), and I have been holding on to the beautiful cards, messages and thoughtful service rendered by my friends near and far.

You brought me homemade bread, soup, paper goods and flowers. You hugged me and physically held me up when I literally didn’t think I could stand. You visited with me and helped me laugh when it felt like all I could do was cry. You mailed me paper hugs and gift cards. You absolutely carried me through my first visit of grief, and I couldn’t forget to express my deepest gratitude for the love you offered!

I know there is life after death, thanks to the Atonement and Resurrection of Jesus Christ. This surety has helped me keep an eternal perspective through the most difficult days, knowing that I will see my brother- and other loved ones- again. You appeared as angels in your comfort and kindnesses to me. My heart is overflowing with appreciation for you.

Connect Through Crafting

In September 1992 I was a young mother with two children under 2 and while I loved being a mom and adored my babies, I also craved a creative outlet (aside from fixing endless meals) and adult conversation.

One Sunday at church, my husband took our fussy baby out to the foyer where he ran into a classmate from High School. As they visited, LaVonne told him that she and her sister had started a direct sales company selling rubber stamps. Cody knew of my love for all things paper and my scrapbooking habit, so he introduced us after the service. Once she handed me a Stampin’ Up! catalog from her Suburban, I was hooked.

The experiences I’ve had as a demonstrator in the ensuing 29 years have added so much value to my life! There is a joy to making and mailing cards and crafting something permanent, together with the relationships I’ve forged with some of the kindest and most creative people around the globe that is glorious!

At our April Demonstrator Gathering, we had a Shoebox Swap and Dessert Bar with our stamping friends!

If you love crafting and are looking for more connection, being a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator is a great way to do both. and now is a fabulous time to join my stamping family: Through May 31st you’ll get a bonus of even MORE FREE products in you customizable Starter Kit!

Golden Anniversary, Plus

My in-laws celebrated 50 years LAST year, but we were able to get the whole family gathered just a few months ago to celebrate!

While they are pretty down-to-earth folk, we wanted to make it fun and festive, so we made these rosettes as decorations. Crafting supplies on hand made it super simple.

These two are unforgettable characters ~ you gotta love ’em ~ and the blue flowers on the cake are symbolic of their two boys being in charge of past cakes. I think the photos sum up their story:

What a way to celebrate! You may be able to figure out who takes after their grandmother (as they are missing from the subsequent photos and setting off the confetti cannon!)

Never a dull moment with this fun family!

In a Small Way…

Part of the Stampin’ Up! Statement of the Heart reads, “…in this we make a difference” and a beloved scriptures reminds me that even when my contribution is small, the Lord can use it for great good: “And thus we see that by small means the Lord can bring about great things.” (1 Nephi 16:29)

Wanting to do something to help those affected by the recent storms in the United States, I’ve donated to the Red Cross a portion of my August Commissions and I was grateful that Stampin’ Up! would match my donation (up to $50,000 from demonstrators and customers) so that means our efforts are doubled! This was a perfect opportunity to make a small donation much greater and one more way to celebrate and share the blessings I’ve received from my business over 25 years.

More 25 Year Celebration

The first winner of my Anniversary Giveaway is Marni Maxwell who will receive the vintage “Golden Rule Days” stamp set for commenting on my August 23rd post: 1992 was a great year with good friends…and Marni is now part of my Sprinkled Ink Team!

25 Ways in 25 Days: Anniversary Giveaway!

25 Years with SU!Gas was $1.05 a gallon. Cartoon Network had just started broadcasting and Bill Clinton became President of the United States (I’m not implying they were connected, but???) I had just given birth to my second child (a son) and was looking for a way to connect and have conversations with other adults, so when my husband ran into LaVonne Crosby as they each took children to the church foyer to calm down and she happened to have a catalog in her car of the company she and her sister had started, my Stampin’ Up! career began!

At the time, Stampin’ Up! carried mostly rubber stamps from other companies with a few they manufactured themselves with a choice between foam mounted rubber or wood blocks. Rainbow stamp pads were extremely popular and we only offered WHITE paper products to stamp on!

To celebrate my 25 years with Stampin’ Up! I’ll be sharing fun facts, playing games, giving away prizes here on the blog, on my Facebook Page and on my Instagram, so connect with me and play along!

Let’s kick off this party by continuing to stroll down memory lane:

Comment with *your* major accomplishment of 1992 ~OR~ the name of one of the stamp companies Stampin’ Up! used to carry in their catalogs!

You could win the nostalgic “Golden Rule Days” stamp set (a very popular stamp set from our past) just in time to celebrate BACK TO SCHOOL. Winner announced August 30th.
