Torn Paper Window Card and Free Shipping Day

Yep! Today (Tuesday, June 21st) is a Free Shipping Day!

But first, learn how to make a “Torn Paper Window Card” using something old and something new:

These greeting cards are made easy with just layers of card stock and beautiful Designer Series Paper! Here’s the video from my Facebook live last week teaching you how fun they are to create:

While the Hues of Happiness Designer Series Paper is brand new, the Symbols of Fortune Designer Series Paper and is about to retire and is half price in the Last Chance sale for retiring items in the January-June Mini Catalog. And if you loved the font in the Happy & Heartfelt stamp set used on the first card, it’s also retiring in just a few days!

The Last Chance Sale is just one reason you will want to check your list and shop today during the Free Shipping Day – If you have kids complaining of boredom this summer, grab a few craft kits from our Kit Collection BOGO 50% off sale to pull out for a few hours of creative fun for anyone!

Remember to check your basic supplies (adhesives, card stock, ink refills and envelopes), too. Then call a friend and combine orders, if needed, to meet the minimum $75 order.

With You I’m Never Lost

Cody and I recently returned from a 6+ week road trip back to see our kids and grandkids in Maryland. He joked that we planned to drive out together, but if things didn’t go well, one of us could fly home 😂 Luckily, we did remarkably well, and enjoyed discovering so many amazing places across the US:

It seems fitting for our relationship that he’s the person I love to “get lost” with– but with him, I’m home.

This week’s #gdp346 sketch from the Global Design Project blog was perfect for a card I’m going to save for our Anniversary:

Cody teases me that “every day is an adventure” together, so the compass stamp was fitting. I LOVE the die cut pieces in the Designer Series Paper and I used one of them as the focal point.

Retirement Parade: So Long, Sweet Peach!

The New at SU! Design Team is bringing you a POP-UP PARADE featuring some of the products we have loved and are sad to see leave as the Retiring List for the Annual Catalog has been released. These items are only while supplies last, so don’t miss your opportunity to order them!

I chose to spotlight my beloved Sweet as a Peach Suite. The Designer Series Paper! The Stamps! The Dies! They have inspired so much creativity in my studio and this is actually the pop-up birthday card I made and sent my team members over the past 12 months:

It opens up to an EXPLOSION of peaches and birthday wishes:

It’s easy to make this explosion insert: Cut a piece of Designer Series Paper 6″ x 6″ and fold in half, then open it up and fold it in half DIAGONALLY in the opposite direction. Unfold it again, tuck the diagonal folds inside and glue the square pieces on the outside of the mechanism to the inside of the card. TIP: Observe the direction of your patterned paper and insert it into your card with the patterns going the right direction.

The best way it fits in your card is by making a binding on the top (or side, depending on orientation) of your card. For this card, I used a piece of 11″ x 4-1/4″ card stock scored at 5-1/2″ and 6-1/2″, then tied that shut with a piece of linen twine, with the second score on the top side of your card to help it open well. It makes the opening smaller than a traditional card and the explosion piece fits nicely inside.

The Sweet as a Peach Bundle (stamps + dies) is on sale through March 21st for 20% off in the Savings are In Bloom sale (along with the Mini Cut & Emboss Machine that the dies fit in), so now is the time to collect it for your craft stash! Retiring items are only while supplies last.

You are now ready to travel through the rest of the Retirement Parade! Hop through all the gorgeous retiring product projects below ~ you won’t want to miss any of the other “last chance” products we’ve loved and collect the fabulous ideas shared!

If you want to add these products to your craft studio before they are gone, you may order them from your demonstrator. Don’t have a demonstrator? Click the links below to shop from my Stampin’ Store!

Layers of Labels on Tulip Card

When I saw the retiring list of products, everything with “Sweet” in the title was being discontinued, and I had a little pity party. I use the Stitched So Sweetly Dies so often, it felt like my left hand was cut off! Once my heart recovered, I picked up and moved forward…there are some lovely things coming, but this is one product you may want to keep close at hand.

Thus, I combined the Stitched So Sweetly Dies in conjunction with the Timeless Tulips stamp set (also retiring) to create this cute patchwork card with layers of labels:

While we have some new tulip dies in the January-June 2022 Mini Catalog, if you are more of a punch person, you may want to grab the stamp set and Tulip Builder die in the Last Chance Sale (while supplies last).

Mother All Flowers Remind Me of You

I had an extra daffodil I had embossed and colored for my last project sitting on my desk, and since my mother looked forward to them each spring, it made sense to create a Mother’s Day card with it.

You can make this too!

Measurements:
Pear Pizzazz cardstock: 5 ½” x 8 ½” scored at 4 ¼” for card base
Fresh Freesia and Vellum cardstock: 3-1/2” x 4-3/4”
Basic White: 3-3/4” x 5”
Seam Binding ribbon: 14”

Instructions:
1. Emboss the Fresh Freesia card stock with Tasteful Textile 3D embossing folder.
2. Using white ink and embossing powder, heat emboss the daffodil bunch in bottom right corner of vellum card stock and greeting on top left corner of Fresh Freesia card stock. Rip the top right corner of vellum away, being careful not to tear through embossed daffodils.
3. Turn the vellum card stock over and color image with Stampin’ Blend markers.
4. Adhere Fresh Freesia layer to White card stock. Line up vellum over Freesia and use Take Your Pick took to pierce holes in the 3 corners to insert small white round brads through.
5. Tie ribbon around the layers, then adhere to front of card with dimensionals.

Merriest Moments

The Merriest Moments bundle is MAGICAL: With the Merriest Frames Hybrid Embossing Folder, you can emboss the foliage frame AND cut it at the same time!

This first card shows the frame embossed in Evening Evergreen card stock and cut down to the smallest size. It’s a simple layout which uses some of the (now out of stock) Be Dazzling specialty paper we offered for Sale-a-Bration for the small flowers, but foil or glimmer paper could be used for that touch of bling that just makes it eye-catching.

You can also layer the smaller frame on the larger die, which fits inside the embossing folder the best. For this version, I added a Cherry Cobbler poinsettia with a few gold leaves, an often overlooked embellishment from the current mini catalog:

Finally, shake up the colors and use a bit of the Soft Seafoam pattern from the Painted Christmas Designer Series Paper and leave off the frame for a completely different look:

I’ve created a tutorial for this last card…print and try it!

You’ll spend many merry moments playing with this product bundle in your craft room! Let me know how you like it.

Feels Like Home~ TGIF Sketch

Do you feel like you make the same style of card over and over again? The best way to STRETCH your creative muscles is with a SKETCH!

For my Lunchtime LIve Crafting on my Facebook page today, I started with the #TGIFC329 sketch challenge and the Feels Like Home Sale-a-Bration stamp set…I’m having a ball using these freebies in my Monday videos to help inspire YOU on ways to use the gifts/supplies you earn for each $50 spent through September 30th, and if you want to watch today’s video tutorial, click here!

This is the TGIF sketch challenge and here are my finished card(s):

When you buy the supplies to create this card, you could choose the stamp set FREE!

I thought it was fun to flip the embossed layer over so the mortar is squeezing out between the bricks. It feels very “Mediterranean Seaside” to me… like an armchair vacation to Greece.

My only dilemma is which card do I love more: The card version with the white or sand colored bricks?
