Vellum Overlay Ladybug Birthday Card

I challenged my Sprinkled Ink team to use Vellum this month, and what kind of leader would I be if I didn’t do what I asked them to do? So it was delightful when Friday’s TGIF challenge went right along with it! Plus, I got to pull out my Ladybug builder punch to create Polished Pink bugs for a birthday card, so who wouldn’t have fun with that?

Have you played with the Vellum Basics Specialty Designer Series Paper? With SIX 12″x12″ pieces of printed vellum – 2 each of stripes, polka dots, and this pretty leafy vine that I used – it’s gives a soft layer of texture, which I enhanced by heat-embossing the blossoms on top of:

While I stamped and punched out the ladybugs for the Polished Pink version of the card, you can also just use the Ladybug Builder punch to punch the pieces out and stamp the polka-dots on the wings, as in the Real Red version-

You’ll have such an enjoyable time putting together these cards, and remember to order some Brushed Brass Butterfly embellishments to include inside your card as the birthday gift!

Here’s a step-by-step video to make it easy for you – simply pause the video and collect the pieces you need to create along with me.

Have Yourself a CHERRY Little Christmas

It’s jolly good fun to wander through the aisles of Dollar Tree and imagine ways to use some of the festive treasures they carry as home decor or gifts! When I saw these cute little packages of 3 Cherry Cordials (which evoke Christmas memories from my childhood), I remembered my Stampin’ Up! Cherry Builder punch and the creative juice started flowing…

It was KISMET that I found the perfect sentiment in the Framed & Festive Limited Edition stamp set, and the idea was taking shape! In fact, I created this simple “dress up” project in my Monday Live video, which you can watch quickly here:

You can alter the design just a bit and put it on a larger box of Cordial Cherries, as well:

PSSST…tomorrow (December 1st) is the beginning of our LAST CHANCE sale on items from the July-December mini catalog (along with NEW things added to the clearance rack) and the Painted Christmas Designer Series Paper that I used on the small cherry boxes will be on sale for 60% off, while supplies last, so set an alarm to shop the sale early!

Right Tools for Embossing; a Bewitching Card!

Crafters always want to know where to get an embossing tray like mine, and now you can! The Embossing Additions Tool Kit is available again (for a limited time?) in the July-December mini catalog, and I showcased it today under a little heat…um, I mean heat embossing.

Actually, the air conditioning converter at my house went out, so I was sweating and stamping at the same time! Not to worry, the repairman came after my video and fixed it. But not before I forgot to show you how to use the Reverse Tweezers in the kit. Oh well, the magic of editing helps.

And not only did we emboss, but I showed how to create a mask from the Dots & Spots die for the background! Keep the mask you create in the envelope with the die and I promise, you’ll find excuses to use it often with your blending brushes. The die is one of the products added to Sale-a-Bration in August and you can see the rest of the freebies-with-qualifying purchase HERE.

Just remember that there are two item numbers for the die: Item #159164 for PURCHASING the die, and item #163098 if you want to redeem it free with a $100 purchase during August 2022.

Watch the how-to video, then get shopping to get your Embossing Addition kit while it’s back in the catalog:

Strawberry Hello

Call me slow, but I *just* realized (3 decades into paper crafting) that you can send a birthday card that DOESN’T SAY “Happy Birthday”!

I was panicked that I needed more birthday cards at the beginning of March, but didn’t have time to make any. My “generic” card stash was overflowing, so I grabbed a few of those and just wrote a birthday message inside, and slapped my forehead as I realized they worked wonderfully! DUH.

LESSON: Let any generic greeting card become whatever you want it to be!

On that note, here’s a card that can be embossed quickly and will help get you out of any “JAM” (get it?) you are in for a mailing moment! I’ve even got a printable HOW TO for you:

Hope the remainder of your day is as sweet as this card is!

Mother All Flowers Remind Me of You

I had an extra daffodil I had embossed and colored for my last project sitting on my desk, and since my mother looked forward to them each spring, it made sense to create a Mother’s Day card with it.

You can make this too!

Measurements:
Pear Pizzazz cardstock: 5 ½” x 8 ½” scored at 4 ¼” for card base
Fresh Freesia and Vellum cardstock: 3-1/2” x 4-3/4”
Basic White: 3-3/4” x 5”
Seam Binding ribbon: 14”

Instructions:
1. Emboss the Fresh Freesia card stock with Tasteful Textile 3D embossing folder.
2. Using white ink and embossing powder, heat emboss the daffodil bunch in bottom right corner of vellum card stock and greeting on top left corner of Fresh Freesia card stock. Rip the top right corner of vellum away, being careful not to tear through embossed daffodils.
3. Turn the vellum card stock over and color image with Stampin’ Blend markers.
4. Adhere Fresh Freesia layer to White card stock. Line up vellum over Freesia and use Take Your Pick took to pierce holes in the 3 corners to insert small white round brads through.
5. Tie ribbon around the layers, then adhere to front of card with dimensionals.

Every Chapter Chalkboard Easel

Do you love reading? Are you part of a book club? This stamp is for YOU!

It was love at first sight for me and the “Every Chapter” stamp in the J-J Mini Catalog. I have a similar stack of books next to my bed. When I found these cute chalkboard easels at Dollar Tree, I knew exactly what to do with the stamp:

It was so simple, too! Here are the instructions:
  1. Ink up Every Chapter stamp with white craft ink and press onto chalkboard, being careful not to rock side to side. Cover wet ink with white embossing powder, shake or brush off excess powder with small, dry paintbrush and heat to set the powder.
  2. Wrap 18” of ribbon around on the left side of chalkboard and tie in a knot. Wrap the 24” piece of ribbon into 3 loops (around 3-4 fingers). Lay on knotted ribbon and tie.
  3. Add loose flower to book with mini glue dot. Add silver pearl to center of flower.

Wouldn’t it look adorable as a favor on a table, too?
