Summer Sampler & Stamp Club

The forecast shows SUNSHINE and STAMPING are in your future!

My friend Sue & I are hosting the next class for our year of seasonal home decor and the Summer Sampler one is sure to be a fun one! The class is just $12 and doesn’t include the frame.

Summer Sampler Class

Thursday, June 2nd –  10 am OR 7 pm

350 S. 400 W. Hurricane, UT

Since I’ve moved (back) to southern Utah, I’m starting a new stamp club that meets every other month, with each member taking turns to earn free products! The clubs will be held in my home (so you won’t have to clean your house!) and club members will make 2 projects for free. Wouldn’t it be nice to join with a friend so you had something creative to look forward to together? You could go to dinner before the club and make it a whole evening out!

The first club will be June 16th in Hurricane and is limited to 6 people, so learn more and join the club by clicking on the button below!

Summer Sampler Class

Does your summertime decor need a facelift?

Friendship is a Sheltering Tree

Whenever I get a new catalog from Stampin’ Up!, I grab some post-it flags and prioritize my list: Green flags are “MUST HAVE”, yellow flags are “Cute…but do I really NEED it?” and pink/red flags are for “Awesome project: Try it!”

The “Sheltering Tree” stamp set from the 2015 Occasions Catalog was the first to get a GREEN flag! Here are a few of the ideas I came up with:

This one is on the front of our large notebook.

The Sheltering Tree set only comes in Photopolymer, and here’s a hint to get it to stamp perfectly every time: Place your Stampin’ Pierce Mat (or a mouse pad) under the card stock you are stamping on! This helps because Photopolymer stamps don’t have the foam cushion that our wood and clear mount rubber stamps have, so the mat acts as the cushion on the other side.

If you love trees (like I love trees), then grab this stamp set from my Stampin’ Store and start planting some creative seeds with it! If you order it before March 31st, add a few accessories to total $50 or more to choose a Sale-A-Bration Reward FREE!

*** In case you haven’t heard, the Blendabilities Markers are discontinued until Stampin’ Up! comes up with a new and improved version sometime in the future, but the silver lining for Sale-a-Bration is that there were 4 NEW reward products added March 1st:

A Sample(r) of Spring

I put out the Spring Decor last week and though the Utah weather is fickle, I’m feeling cheerful! This is the lastest sampler I’ve created using squares from a swap my stampin’ family held:

And this is one from one of my stamp clubs. I’m always so proud of them when they get crafty!
Finally (though I know it’s past St. Patrick’s Day) I had to share this one by my friend Sue Stratton because it’s so adorable:

If you need a little spring-in-your-step (or in your home) and you don’t want to make your own, I have an extra one from last year that I have for sale for $15 plus shipping! E-mail me if you want it!

Let Nothing Go to Waste

After creating a few Valentine Samplers with my Stampin’ Family and stamp clubs, I had a few of these squares left over:

Since I couldn’t let them go to waste (quilters and scrapbookers, you know what I mean, right?) I had to repurpose them and use them somehow. So I created some simple Valentines for my kids:

Card Recipe (All Supplies from my Stampin’ Up! Store)

Stamps: Occasions Alphabet
Ink: White Stazon (Item #106960)
Paper: Marina Mist, Strawberry Slush, Pear Pizzaz & Whisper White card stock. 2013-14 In Color Designer Series Paper Stack (130137)
Accessories: Window Sheets (114323), Big Shot, Typset Alphabet Bigz die (127553), Alphabet Press embossing folder (130916), Pearls Basics Jewels (119247), White Taffeta Ribbon (109070),  Scallop Edge Border Punch (119882) and Glue Dots.

Love Isn’t Love ’til You Give It Away (+Blog Candy)

It has been a joy to swap sampler squares with my downline and in my stamp clubs and last month we made Valentine squares! Remember as a kid when you said, “I just love that!” and your friends would say, “Then why don’t you marry it?!”…I love this one almost enough to marry it, but I’m already taken 🙂

I especially love how everyone does something different with their squares (thanks to Heather B, Pam C and Shelly S for sharing a smattering of samplers!)

Would you like to gather your friends together for Sampler Swap? I’d be happy to teach you how!
Since “Love Isn’t Love ’til You Give It Away”, I’ve got a little love to share: I have a few extra Valentine Squares to share with someone who comments below by February 9, 2014! Make sure to check back on Monday, Feb. 10 to see if you’ve won 🙂

UPDATE 2/11/14: Congrats Meredith! You are the winner! Check your inbox 🙂

Now Serving Leftovers: Card Candy!

Why is it that the word “leftovers” has a negative connotation? This is a thought I’m pondering this morning because I am believe that so many things are BETTER the second time. Seriously: Spaghetti is soooo much tastier when left overnight (or two) and the flavors meld together! Even though the number of people in my household is dwindling as the kids grow up and move out, I continue to cook for an army JUST SO I can “cook once, eat twice”. At this moment, there is leftover chicken & rice in the fridge for dinner tonight and a sausage/vegetable skillet ready to reheat for tomorrow’s supper! It makes me happy knowing I just have to push the button on the microwave and have a meal ready to serve 🙂

So when I had “leftover” 2″ squares from the Sampler Swap, I thought about the term “Card Candy” instead of leftovers: Many stampers create Card Candy as little focal points that can be created ahead of time and stuck on a card whenever they are needed. And what a fitting term, as they create SWEET little morsels:

They were super easy and quick to put together with a little card stock and DSP (Designer Series Paper). Looking at them now, I doubt you would think of them poorly as “leftovers”, huh?

So maybe we need to coin a new term for food: I’m thinking “Supper Starters”, “Meal Marzipan” or “Sweet Seconds”. What do you think?

Sensational Seasonal Samplers

My Stitched Stamper family of SU! demonstrators held a “Sampler Square” Swap for the upcoming holidays. Each of us created a 2″ square to trade using a set color palette and here are the finished projects, mounted on Designer Series Paper for a 12×12 frame.

Halloween (using Witches’ Brew DSP from the Holiday Catalog):

Fall/Thanksgiving (using Sweater Weather DSP from the Holiday Catalog):

Christmas (using Season of Style DSP from the Holiday Catalog):
Wouldn’t this be fun to do with your friends? To order supplies to make your own, visit my Stampin’ Up! store!
If you are swapping with friends, invite everyone to participate, because it’s great to have “leftover” squares…see what I did with them here 🙂
