Persistence Pays Off!

“What you get by achieving your goals is not as important as what you become by achieving your goals.” ~Henry David Thoreau

After 22 years as a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator, I finally earned my FIRST Incentive Trip: The Getaway to Washington, D.C.!

This is a goal I have set many times and though I have fallen short until now, I don’t count any of those attempts as failures because there are so many things I learned as I attempted to achieve it. I’d like to share a few of the things I learned along the way, but am still in the process of perfecting:

1. God first, family next. Work comes after the first two. It’s easy to get your priorities skewed when you set a goal for your business. This I know personally. But I have never regretted an instance when I had to set aside my business goals to serve my Heavenly Father and my family first. It is vital to keep an eternal perspective.

2. Every time you attempt a goal, your failures teach you more than your successes. How often do we give up after we try a few times and can’t do something? It’s tempting to say, “I just can’t do it.” Did you know it’s believed that Thomas Edison tried thousands of times to invent the lightbulb before he succeeded? He’s credited as saying, “I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.

3. Try and try again. Yep. It’s worth it.

4. Be grateful to those who help you. There is no way I could have earned this reward alone! My husband was incredibly supportive and continued to believe I could do this even though I’ve tried 20 times. My children have been so very patient, too (Thanks K, K, B & K!!). And my wonderful customers and hostesses are not simply people I sell to ~ they are my friends and my creative inspiration. Thank you for your loyalty and for supporting my business. I appreciate you so much!

I’m still becoming who God wants me to be, and I think my journey with Stampin’ Up! has helped me learn some valuable lessons.

Super Birthday

I really do have a great excuse for being absent for 6 weeks (yikes! has it really been that long?!) and you can come back tomorrow so I can catch you up on what that was, but for today let me share my favorite new Photopolymer stamp set: Calling All Heroes!

Living in a household of comic book nerds (they correct me when I mix up Marvel and D.C. characters…apparently Avengers don’t mix well with Xmen or Justic League) this stamp set was a no brainer! I’ve discovered I also love the alphabet that comes with it for little letters:
http://bit.ly/1d6IxdM

I am *REALLY* close to earning my first ever trip with Stampin’ Up!…I only need about $500 in sales by Monday, June 30…so if you have been needing supplies (card stock, adhesive, new stamps, punches, glitter, etc) would you please order it on my website  or give me a call (801-376-8685) ASAP? And if you use Hostess Code KEYE2EX9 with that order before the end of June, I’ll send you a THANK YOU gift for helping me reach my goal…using the Calling All Heroes set 😉

Have a SUPER day!

Creating in the cracks…

Right now things are pretty exciting as we prepare for wedding number 2 at our house! My oldest daughter will be married in May and as she is miles away, we are doing a lot of phone calling. I’m SO grateful for cell phones: How many of you remember when you had to pay for long distance calls? Growning up, even calling the city 15 miles away was long distance! Thanks goodness those days are past.

I’ve been doing a little creating in the “cracks” of life: Those moments when I can grab a few previously unscheduled minutes for getting crafty as well as some big projects we had to tackle for the wedding…

Here’s what I’ve been up to:

My mom and BFF Kelli (and my sister and daughter-in-law, not picutred) helped me make 500 wedding invitations! Couldn’t have done it alone: Thanks ladies!

Kelli’s birthday was in November, but I just got around to giving her a gift, so it had to have a cute bag to go in (above left).

Back in August I volunteered to help with Teacher Appreciation week, so with the help of my husband and youngest daughter, we cranked out 100 thank you cards with a little treat inside at the beginning of April.

If you follow Creative Juice by Loni on Facebook or Instagram, you have seen a few of these (and other projects). As much as I love my blog, it’s easier to post to the other two, so while I will continue to post here, you’ll probably see me sharing more on the other two social media outlets 🙂

Meanwhile, don’t forget that FREE SHIPPING ends Friday:

Easter Eggs and Memory Albums

Look at me! I actually finished a project BEFORE the holiday! Feeling pretty good right now 🙂 These little Easter Egg “thrones” are such fun to make with a few punches, stamps and the Big Shot!

So I don’t have time to make a lengthy tutorial, so let me give you a few tips for making them:

  • Cadbury eggs are too small. I found some larger eggs at Costco (they are hollow)
  • Cut a 8.5″x2.5″ strip from one end of your card stock and score it (down the long edges) at 1/2″ and 2″ (the Simply Scored board–item #122334–makes all your scoring SUPER SIMPLE). Then chop it up into 2″x 2.5″ pieces and punch a hole using the 1-1/4″ circle punch (#119861) in the middle like this—–>>>>

  • Cut the rest of the card stock into 2″x8.5″ strips. Score them at 3.5″ and 5″. Punch the ends with the Scallop Tag Topper Punch (133324).
  • Line up the Designer Frame embossing folder (#123130) with the first score line from one end and run through the Big Shot —>>>>>
  • Punch the middle of the embossed frame out with the Large Oval Punch (#119859)
  • Adhere the “throne” piece between the two sides with SNAIL adhesive, add egg and embellish as desired! I used the flowers and punch from the Petite Petal bundle (#134821-wood or #134822-clear mount). As always, you can purchase these supplies from my Stampin’ Up! store!

And in upcoming events, if you have a mother, friend or grad that you need a thoughtful gift for, come to my Mini Memory Album class! You can bring your own pictures or come to create the book and add photos later. The cost is $17 and you MUST bring your own Scissors, SNAIL adhesive and Glue Dots. If you forget your adhesive, I will let you buy new ones from me 🙂 Please register below.

A Sample(r) of Spring

I put out the Spring Decor last week and though the Utah weather is fickle, I’m feeling cheerful! This is the lastest sampler I’ve created using squares from a swap my stampin’ family held:

And this is one from one of my stamp clubs. I’m always so proud of them when they get crafty!
Finally (though I know it’s past St. Patrick’s Day) I had to share this one by my friend Sue Stratton because it’s so adorable:

If you need a little spring-in-your-step (or in your home) and you don’t want to make your own, I have an extra one from last year that I have for sale for $15 plus shipping! E-mail me if you want it!
