A Thank-You Faux Step Card

Have you explored the Online Exclusive products in my Stampin’ Up! Store? One of the ones I’ve been loving is the Hello, Irresistible Suite and this Faux Step Card is a snap to put together using the products in the suite!

This is a Portrait (tall) version of the Rain or Shine card I created a few months ago (watch the tutorial HERE) and the card base measurements are:

Card Base is 11″ x 4.25″ (scored at 2″, 4″ and 7.5″)
Designer Series Paper: 4″ x 1.75″ (Pretty Peacock lattice piece) and 4″ x 3.25″ (leaves).
Tall panel is 2.25″ x 11″, scored at 5.5″
Designer Series Paper is 2″ x 5.25″ (Flirty Flamingo pink piece)

Emboss the greeting in white embossing powder on Basic Black card stock and fussy cut for the front. I did use the now-retired white seam binding ribbon around the bottom step panel, but you can substitute any that you have in your collection.

The coordinating dies cut the flowers from both the stamp set AND the Designer Series Paper, as I’ve done here, and then I embellished with a few of the Frosted Dots (also in the suite) using mini glue dots to adhere to the center of the flowers, or scattered across the front.

Once you make this card, you’ll want to make many more just like it, so cut your paper accordingly! Shop the supplies here:

New Year’s Eve is all about the bling, right?

The Simply Elegant Suite is rich in luxurious details and textures that you just have to see in person to really appreciate. The Specialty Designer Series Paper combines the elegance of Basic Black, Basic Gray, and Very Vanilla with the shimmery luster of Gold, Copper, and Silver – it’s simply gorgeous!

Often, stamp and punch combinations are designed to punch out a specific image, but in this case the Elegant Tag Punch works with several images and greetings in the Elegantly Said stamp set. The bonus of this design is that the punch works with lots of other images and greetings from other sets, too!

Simply Elegant Card

INSTRUCTIONS:
1) Cut Petal Pink cardstock to 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″. Score at 4-1/4″ along the 8-1/2″ side.

2) Cut Petal Pink cardstock to 3-1/4″ x 5″. Create the look of your own Designer Series Paper by stamping the floral image from the Elegantly Said stamp set all over the cardstock. Start by stamping the image twice, near the center, with Flirty Flamingo ink. Clean the stamp and then stamp around the first two images, using Petal Pink ink, until the cardstock is covered. Rotate the stamp a quarter turn each time to create a varied pattern.

3) Adhere near the left edge of the card front with Stampin’ SEAL. Add gold leaf and berry stalk die cut pieces from the Expressions In Ink Ephemera Pack near the right edge of the layer with Mini Glue Dots or Multipurpose Liquid Glue.

4) Use the Elegant Tag punch to punch Sweet Symmetry Designer Series Paper. Adhere to card overlapping the gold ephemera with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

5) Stamp greeting on 2″ x 1/2″ Mint Macaron cardstock with Mint Macaron ink. Adhere to tag with Stampin’ SEAL or Mini Glue Dots.

6) Use Linen Thread to gently tie a bow around the finial detail on the punch.

TIPS: Create your own Designer Series Paper in your choice of colors and patterns using your favorite stamps! This can be done using one or a few coordinating stamps and your choice of one or more ink colors, depending on the look you want to create. Start by stamping your selected image near the center and working out from the center towards the edges until the cardstock is covered. Rotate the stamp a quarter turn each time to create a varied pattern.

Frosted Gingerbread & Peppermint Card

Frosted Gingerbread &
Peppermint Card

INSTRUCTIONS:

1) Cut Thick Basic White cardstock to 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″. Score at 4-1/4″ along the 8-1/2″ side. Fold card. Cover front of card with 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ piece of Kraft paper.

2) Cut wood patterned In Good Taste Designer Series Paper to 4-1/8″ x 4-3/4″. Adhere to card front.

3) Cut Snowy White Velvet Sheets to 3″ x 5″. Ink Blending Brush with Real Red ink. Rub most of the real red ink out of your brush on scrap paper until it’s a light pink. Place striped pattern of Adorning Designs Decorative Masks over Snowy White Paper so the lines are vertical. Use the Blending Brush to blend ink through the mask. Rotate the mask 90 degrees and repeat to create the plaid design. Set aside to dry.

4) Die cut two lacy border strips from Thick Basic White cardstock with the Gingerbread dies. Add Stampin’ SEAL+ behind each long edge of the plaid Snowy White Velvet Paper. Adhere a die cut strip behind each edge. Trim off excess with Paper Snips. Adhere to cared front.

5) Die cut snowflake, star, and bell shapes from Kraft paper. Die cut coordinating lacy “icing” designs from Snowy White Velvet Sheets. Adhere to Kraft shapes with Multipurpose Liquid Glue. Layer grouped on card front using Stampin’ SEAL for the snowflake and star and Stampin’ Dimensionals for the bell.

6) Cut Granny Apple Green cardstock to 2″ x 1/2″. Stamp greeting with VersaMark ink. Cover generously with white Stampin’ Emboss Powder. Tap off excess powder. Heat emboss with the Heat Tool. Use Paper Snips to banner cut one end. Adhere to card front with left edge tucked under the bell.

7) Stamp six candy circles in 3 sizes on Thick Basic White cardstock using Real Red ink. Die cut with coordinating dies. Adhere to card front with Stampin’ SEAL and Stampin’ Dimensionals.

TIPS: Create custom ribbon with Stampin’ Blends. Start with a white ribbon or a light color ribbon similar in tone to your chosen color. Trendy Hanging House Plants

BLOOM WHERE YOU’RE PLANTED SUITE

I have early memories of my mother creating macramé and the trend of hanging house plants in these woven hangers has returned with fervor! You can enjoy this old-is-new-again fashion (without having to remember to water the plants) when you create with the Bloom Where You Are Planted Suite.

One cool feature of this suite is that the dies not only cut out the stamped images, but ALSO many of the printed images on the coordinating Designer Series Paper! If you need MORE of the patterned paper to pre-cut for projects, it’s on sale during our June DSP sale!

For this card, you can ink the right plant image with Calypso Coral ink, then stamp off once on scrap paper, but before stamping again on card stock use a sponge dauber inked with Old Olive ink to add highlights on edges of the leaves on the stamp, then press your image to the card stock and cut it out with the coordinating dies.

TIPS: The Gilded Leafing is packed tightly in the container and is super light so it can “float” around easily. Open the container carefully and consider storing the leafing in a larger storage container with a lid. This makes the leafing easier to use and also easier to return excess leafing once done.
