What’s New at SU! Fall Crafting

Thanks for hopping along with the What’s New at SU! blog hop. Our group of demonstrators from around the globe always inspire creativity with their projects and today we are focusing on FALL.

My husband grew over 200 stalks of Indian corn this year, so we have a LOT of beautiful ears and colorful kernels with which to decorate for all things Autumn:

IMG_3435-(W)We dried some of the corn and I put them into a small mason jar and pushed a battery-operated tea light into them. All it needed was a little ribbon and a tag to dress it up, and I will make a few more to decorate our Thanksgiving table.

When was the last time you colored directly on your stamp with Stampin’ Write Markers? I love doing this on words to achieve a rainbow effect.

IMG_3429-(W)This technique is easily done on a red rubber stamp (like our cling mount sets), but this saying was from a photopolymer set: When I colored and stamped it the first time, the colors pooled on the photopolymer, making the stamped image blotchy. So I cleaned it off with Stampin’ Mist cleaner on the Stampin’ Scrub and tried again~ the result the second time was MUCH better!

Before you hop on to Diane’s projects (or back to Heather’s), I’d love to hear from you in the comments!

What’s New: Birds of A Feather

Whats new (2)

You must be as excited about holiday crafting as I am, since you are joining our blog hop with this creative group of Stampin’ Up! demonstrators from around the world! We are hoppin’ with ideas to share with you from the upcoming Holiday Catalog!

I’m giving you a “sneak beak” at one stamp set you’ll certainly want in your crafting “bag of chicks”: the Birds of a Feather stamp set.

IMG_2772 (W)

The colors are Crushed Curry, Early Espresso and Cajun Craze with Very Vanilla. It was fun to use the Stampin’ Blends to color the cook, too.

This could be the (tur)KEY to a lovely Thanksgiving table setting: Simply replace the greeting with the name of a guest and set it above their plate to indicate where they should sit for the meal of the year!

IMG_2773 (W)

The perfect complimenting stamp to the Birds of a Feather set is the All Wired Up background stamp from the annual catalog, don’t you agree?

With a cute bird for Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas AND Valentines (and a corresponding greeting for each), you’ll FLY to this set when you need to make something adorable this holiday season: Put it on your wish list for September 4th, when the Holiday catalog goes live!PREVIOUSNEXT

Before you fly on to Anke’s blog (or back to Margriet’s), feel free to leave me a comment or message~ It always makes my day to know if you liked what I shared! And here’s a bonus alternate card using the same layout and stamp set, with different colors and images for sending a little love any day of the year: IMG_2776 (W)

What’s New Blog Hop Roll:

Hidden Message Slider Card

On my walk this morning as I was cheerfully stomping through some fallen leaves, this card came into my mind…and it actually turned out better than I had imagined!

How about a video tutorial? Okay, even if it did just take me two hours and I still haven’t showered…

I’m always THANKFUL for comments to know if you like what I’m sharing 🙂 and even MORE grateful for your Online Orders and will send you a card to tell you how grateful I am (as long as you don’t select “No Contact” when you place your order…I have to be able to see your address to send you a card, right?)

Warm Thanks (and Blog Candy)

‘Tis the THANKS-GIVING season:
How adorably sweet is this “warm” gift of appreciation?

I’ve been looking forward to trying these new “Mugging” mixes from Shirley J and when I saw them at Macey’s today, I had to grab a few, along with this speckled Baked Brown Sugar mug. Add a few Stampin’ Up! supplies to decorate with~Tea Lace Paper Doilies (item 129399), A Round Array stamp set, 7/8″ and 1-1/4″ scallop circle punches (129404 and 127811), 7/16″ Natural Trim (129287), Baker’s Twine and some ink~ and you’ve got a quick gift!

The other sweet thing is that there are currently 8 flavors of Mugging Mixes:

  • Chocolate Brownie Cake
  • Gluten-Free Chocolate Brownie Cake
  • Old-Fashioned Yellow Cake and Cobbler
  • Country Style Cornbread
  • Pumpkin Spice Bread
  • Walnut Bread
  • Quiche in a Cup
  • No-Pan Pancake
All you have to do is add water, stir it up in a mug and microwave for less than 2 minutes!
I picked up two mixes and here’s today’s BLOG CANDY! The first person who guesses which two I bought will get ONE of the mixes and a package of doilies from Stampin’ Up! Make sure you leave your guess in the comments and check back to see the winner on November 15th 🙂

WENDY: You are the winner! Thanks for all your comments and I’m sorry to post the winner so late, but I had to transfer to a new computer 😛 Email me your address and I’ll send a Chocolate Brownie Cake and Pumpkin Spice Bread Mix to you!

5 Ways on Fridays: Thankful Tablescape Simply Created Kit

The pieces of the new Thankful Tablescape Simply Created Kit (item 133463) in the Stampin’ Up! Holiday Catalog were designed to decorate a Thanksgiving table, but of course, people get crafty and find new ways to utilize the parts in unique ways, so come along as I share a few of my favorites! Leave a link to other awesome crafts using this kit in the comments.
1. Starting with cards, here’s a pocket card I created from the Tablescape kit following the
All I added was a crumb cake envelope (for the pocket), a piece of Early Espresso card stock, a strip of 1-1/4″ Burlap Ribbon (132140) and I punched the circle using the 2-1/2″ circle punch (120906).
2. At SU! convention in July, Sara Douglass demonstrated how to create a Thankful Journal from the Tablescape kit, but my photos weren’t that great, so a quick internet search found another Sarah (Sagert) who had crafted her own…with some nice pictures of her lovely pages 🙂
3. Admittedly, I’m a sucker for anything in a mason jar, so Jessica Lewis’ simply sweet Thankful Jar immediately appealed to me! Can’t you just imagine filling this with reasons to be grateful?
The Birch paper and chocolate chip herringbone paper both come on a roll in the kit and are perfect for wrapping around a vase, jar or candle.
4. Allison Okamitsu (a very talented Canadian demonstrator) created the last two gorgeous home decor projects from the Thankful Tablescape Simply Created Kit. The first is a Thankful Banner and you see more of this beauty by clicking on the picture.

5. I love Allison’s style and her blog is “Nice People Stamp”. Haven’t met her, but it’s a given she’s one NICE person to share her talents! This is also her creation~A frame covered in the Birch-bark paper from the kit. Isn’t the banner adorable? Visit Allison’s tutorial for the frame HERE (or click on photo)

Thanks for checking out my 5 Ways on Fridays collection! Order the Thanksgiving Tablescape Kit from my Stampin’ Store to create some fabulous Fall creations of your own, then post a link to them in the comments so we can be inspired by YOU!

My Stitched Stamper family of SU! demonstrators held a “Sampler Square” Swap for the upcoming holidays. Each of us created a 2″ square to trade using a set color palette and here are the finished projects, mounted on Designer Series Paper for a 12×12 frame.

Halloween (using Witches’ Brew DSP from the Holiday Catalog):

Fall/Thanksgiving (using Sweater Weather DSP from the Holiday Catalog):

Christmas (using Season of Style DSP from the Holiday Catalog):
Wouldn’t this be fun to do with your friends? To order supplies to make your own, visit my Stampin’ Up! store!
If you are swapping with friends, invite everyone to participate, because it’s great to have “leftover” squares…see what I did with them here 🙂

Gather and Gobble

Hooray for Turkey Day! While I’ll be going out to eat this Thanksgiving, I still wanted to share this idea for saving your spot at the table: This cute little gobbler uses the SU! Treat Cups (116802) and a few different punches to hold a tasty treat: Pull the slider and out they come so you can re-use it year after year!

I gave a talk in church a few weeks ago on Gratitude and the question I asked at the beginning of the talk was this:

I’ve been trying to be more specific in my prayers for those things I take for granted: Being able to breathe and smell, a hot water heater, contact lenses, chapstick, the internet, scissors, my local library, public school, etc. etc. The list is long, but think about what you are doing right now and what blessing you aren’t even considering that allows you to do it? If you had to gather or hunt for your food every meal, you wouldn’t be sitting here reading my blog! Gather to Gobble AND give Gratitude to God this Thanksgiving!

Two-for-One Challenge: Feeling Autumnal

Serendipity! I made this card yesterday for the Create with Connie and Mary color challenge and woke up to discover that it kind of fits the Clean & Simple sketch #216 scallop challenge too 🙂 Since I haven’t made nearly enough fall/autumn cards, I was very pleased with how it turned out and the champagne glimmer paper makes me so very warm inside:

I adore the Autumn Accents Die for the Big Shot to make my own leaves and I used the Simply Scored to give the leaves veins. The DSP is from the Comfort Cafe package.

It was so fun to create last night, but here is what my desk looks like this morning:

And my kids think there should be food in the fridge, so I guess I’ll be cleaning and shopping today instead of crafting 😦 As my Father-in-Law is fond of saying, “Just when you teach ’em to eat dirt, they up and die on you.” No bueno!

I can promise you’ll leave the Holiday Stamp Camp as stuffed with creative ideas for the holidays as though you had just eaten Thanksgiving dinner (not to mention just as satisfied)!
