New at SU! – Spell It Out!

With all the awesome alphabet products Stampin’ Up! currently carries, the New at SU! design team is showing up to demonstrate ways to say what you want to say in our March 2023 Blog Hop!

I’ve paired the Alphabet a la Mode dies with the Greatest Journey dies to create a card of encouragement for someone who is working toward a goal:

The trickiest part of this card was making sure I cut out the letters the same distance from the top of each strip of card stock, and to remember to keep the inside of the letter “A” to adhere inside the negative image. I did add an adhesive sheet to the back of each 7/8″ x 4″ piece of card stock before die cutting, so I could easily adhere the strips to the card AND use the letters I cut out for another project.

TIP: Use a piece of washi tape to hold the letters in place as you run the dies through the Cut & Emboss machine!

After that, it was all downhill (so to speak): die cut the runner and mountain from Basic Black, and layer the card onto a black mat.

I stamped the “This Moment” sentiment inside the card, because we don’t always recognize that our hard work now will pay off later.

Now, discover MORE ways to use letters and alphabets in your paper crafting with these ideas from our International New at SU! Group of Demonstrators:

New at SU: This Piggy is Giving a Gift Card

Giving a gift card makes everyone happy: It’s easy for you to buy, and the recipient gets to choose what they want. But if it seems “impersonal”, the New at SU! design team is here to show you how to make gifting (and getting) a gift card EXCITING!

This Birthday Piggy is scooting in on a gift box that doesn’t even hint at what’s inside:

It’s a charming surprise when you open the box and a gift card pops up:

Don’t worry…it’s a simple box to make and the mechanism is a piece of (birthday) cake! Let me show you how:

This is my fancy project sketch and dimensions (bold lines are where you will cut). It may help as you follow along with the video tutorial (feel free to pause the video as you learn). You can get both pieces from one sheet of 8.5″ x 11″ card stock.

Once your box is assembled and decorated, simply attach your gift card to the front panel of the pop-up piece using a few glue dots!

I’ll list the supplies below and am happy to serve you if you are in the U.S. and don’t have a demonstrator. Now make sure you hop along to see the other clever gift card holders our International creative team are sharing…click a link below:

New at SU! In-Color Happiness

New Catalog, New Colors, New Stamps…and we can’t wait to share it all with you! Today we are featuring the 2022-2024 In-Colors that made their debut this month and as you visit the website of each of our International demonstrator design team, make sure you PIN your favorites to remember for later.

Bright and bold, I adore these new colors, and I wanted to show how lovely three of them (Parakeet Party, Sweet Sorbet and Orchard Oasis) coordinate in WATERCOLOR:

The Happiness Abounds bundle was perfect for this simple technique! Here are the easy steps:

  1. Heat emboss the flowers and leaves with white embossing powder on thick Basic White card stock.
  2. Squeeze your ink pads (while closed) to get a bit of ink inside the lid of your case, then open the ink pad and pick up a bit of ink from the lid using a water painter. (Don’t pick up ink directly from your ink pad). TIP: Start with a light wash of color and add more as desired..
  3. Use the dies to cut out the watercolored flora using the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss machine and add to your project with liquid glue or dimensionals.

Putting these flowers onto one of our new striped Emboss Treat bags makes me ready for the next birthday or wedding gift I need to wrap.

Before you move on to Andrea’s pretty project (or click anywhere on the list to see more In-Color Inspiration), tell me which In-Color matches your personality!? For me, I think it’s going to be Tahitian Tide (which I didn’t even use on this project!).

Retirement Parade: So Long, Sweet Peach!

The New at SU! Design Team is bringing you a POP-UP PARADE featuring some of the products we have loved and are sad to see leave as the Retiring List for the Annual Catalog has been released. These items are only while supplies last, so don’t miss your opportunity to order them!

I chose to spotlight my beloved Sweet as a Peach Suite. The Designer Series Paper! The Stamps! The Dies! They have inspired so much creativity in my studio and this is actually the pop-up birthday card I made and sent my team members over the past 12 months:

It opens up to an EXPLOSION of peaches and birthday wishes:

It’s easy to make this explosion insert: Cut a piece of Designer Series Paper 6″ x 6″ and fold in half, then open it up and fold it in half DIAGONALLY in the opposite direction. Unfold it again, tuck the diagonal folds inside and glue the square pieces on the outside of the mechanism to the inside of the card. TIP: Observe the direction of your patterned paper and insert it into your card with the patterns going the right direction.

The best way it fits in your card is by making a binding on the top (or side, depending on orientation) of your card. For this card, I used a piece of 11″ x 4-1/4″ card stock scored at 5-1/2″ and 6-1/2″, then tied that shut with a piece of linen twine, with the second score on the top side of your card to help it open well. It makes the opening smaller than a traditional card and the explosion piece fits nicely inside.

The Sweet as a Peach Bundle (stamps + dies) is on sale through March 21st for 20% off in the Savings are In Bloom sale (along with the Mini Cut & Emboss Machine that the dies fit in), so now is the time to collect it for your craft stash! Retiring items are only while supplies last.

You are now ready to travel through the rest of the Retirement Parade! Hop through all the gorgeous retiring product projects below ~ you won’t want to miss any of the other “last chance” products we’ve loved and collect the fabulous ideas shared!

If you want to add these products to your craft studio before they are gone, you may order them from your demonstrator. Don’t have a demonstrator? Click the links below to shop from my Stampin’ Store!

New at SU! ~ Papaya, Peaches & Pockets

New Stampin’ Year, NEW IN COLORS! Welcome to our May 2021 New at SU! Blog Hop where we are sharing the 2021-2023 In Colors with you in a fresh new way: by sharing Fun Fold Cards to try in your own craft studio! You’ll want to PIN all these terrific card ideas, so let’s get hopping around the world with our design team so you can give it a try sooner than later!

I chose to focus on the Pale Papaya color because it happens to match my favorite Designer Series Paper, “You’re a Peach” and I started with the In Color Vellum – which is shimmery on one side, and oh, so pretty!

On to my project, a Vellum Slide-Out-Pocket gift card holder:

My card was inspired by fellow demonstrator Rachel Tessman

What a PEACHY way to give a gift card!

Here are the pieces you need to make this card:

  1. Pale Papaya Vellum: 11″ x 4-1/4″ scored at 2-1/4 from one end and 3-1/4″ from the opposite end.
  2. Designer Series Paper: 7-3/8″ x 3-1/2″. If your paper has a direction, you’ll want to score at 2-5/8″ from the top (so your pattern will go the correct way on the pocket) and 3/8″ from the bottom. When you assemble the pocket, the 3/8″ edge will actually adhere toward the top of the card (see image 3)
  3. Basic White card stock: 3-1/2″ x 2-1/2″ plus scraps to stamp on
  4. Pear Pizzazz card stock: 3-3/8″ x 2-3/8″
  5. Pale Papaya ribbon: 18″

I embossed the Pear Pizzazz card stock with the lovely Stitched Greenery die, then stamped and die cut my peach images (TIP: Ink up your peach stamp with Pale Papaya ink, then use a sponge dauber to lightly add a bit of Polished Pink ink to the edges)

Then follow these steps to assemble your card:

There is only Tear & Tape adhesive on the edges of the Designer Series Paper pocket and the 3/8″ top edge of the pocket, and then on the same spot on TOP of the vellum to adhere the card stock panel to the front of the card. No other adhesive is necessary!

I stamped “Happy BIrthday” on the back side of the front panel before assembling the card so it shows through when you open it.

Products used are listed below, and I appreciate your comments! Then jump over the pond to our Columbian in Germany~ Ximena’s post to find another fancy fold card featuring the In Colors:

New at SU! Warm, Cozy & Wildly Happy

Welcome to our “Warm & Cozy” Blog Hop: The best way to view these projects from talented demonstrators around the world is wrapped in a blanket with a warm cup of cocoa!

Once you have hopped through all the blogs, you may either feel like crafting, OR having a nap. Either way, we’ve got you covered:

My project is a sign to hang from your door when a baby (or yourself) are sleeping! If you are a new mom, you should take this advice: “SLEEP WHEN YOUR BABY SLEEPS”. You need the rest, and during the winter, we need more sleep. Let this notice keep it quiet during that important time.

The photo-realistic textures of the In Good Taste Designer Series Paper felt cabin-cozy for my Naptime Door Sign and with the Playful Alphabet dies, you can say what you want to say! TIP: If you happen to drop a die in the garbage can while crafting, grab a magnet to fish it out (not saying that happened or anything…)

I made it the same size as a card (5.5″ x 4.25″) so you can mail it to a friend who just had a baby.

I’ve been really enjoying the new Water Painters for watercoloring…it’s so relaxing to color! Doesn’t the mother and baby fox from the Wildly Happy stamp set just make you want to curl up for a snooze?

All the supplies I used for this Warm & Cozy project are listed below and please leave me a comment before following the hop over to Terry’s blog to see what she’s cooking up with the Heartwarming Hugs bundle!

New at SU! Banner Year Halloween Door Hanger

We are back to celebrate the Fall-idays with more festive projects from our international group of Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators~ Take a moment to hop through and tell us what you like, and pin your favorites to your boards to remember later.

My project turns Halloween upside down by LEAVING a treat instead of taking one!

To create this door hanger, you’ll need a sheet of 8.5″ x 11″ card stock. Score from the short side at 2.5″ and 3.25″, then rotate the sheet 90 degrees and score at 1.75″, 2.5″, 6″ and 6.75″. Cut off the largest rectangles on both sides and fold along the score (dotted) lines and cut along the solid lines as shown:

It’s easiest to do any stamping you wish at this point while it’s flat, then fold the sides in, then up and adhere the lower outside rectangles to the front of the largest rectangle, creating a pocket. Punch a large circle at the top, embellish and fill with treats!

I used the circle I punched out at the top for the moon behind the cat:

I’ll post my supply list below, but if you are ready to skip to the next blog, here’s the button to take you to Heather’s blog where you’ll Have a Hoot!

New at SU! Seeing In Color

Whats New Header

If COLORS cheer you up, you are going to be giddy hopping through a rainbow of projects featuring the 2020-2022 In-Colors crafted for you by Stampin’ Up! demonstrators from around the world!

I felt like starting off with ALL 5 of these new hues and the *best* way to show them off is with the Flowers for Every Season Memories & More Cards and coordinating cards & envelopes:

The entire Flowers for Every Season suite revolves around the In-Colors debuting in the Annual Catalog: Bumblebee, Cinnamon Cider, Just Jade, Magenta Madness and Misty Moonlight! It’s amazing how beautifully these colors work together and shine on their own, as well.

These card require no (or very little) stamping, and can be put together in minutes with just a bit of adhesive, Stampin’ Dimensionals and a few embellishments in addition to the Memories & More products above:

IMG_6078-(W)

The LOVE card on the Just Jade base is as simple as it gets: Just adhere one of the 4″x6″ cards to the front of the cards and tuck it into the envelope!

IMG_6077-(W)

The card bases have a dotted frame you can center the smaller 2″x3″ card on. I cut a few sentiments (see below) from another one of the M&M cards to add emphasis, reminding me of the song I sung to my babies (and now they sing to their babies) on this Magenta Madness card.

IMG_6080-(W)

Layer a large and small card together, as on a Misty Moonlight version and add a bit of lace trim to make a blue Christmas card:

There really are flowers for EVERY season! Cinnamon Cider is the best neutral base for all the rest! On the card above, I used the stickers from the card pack for a focal point and sentiment.

IMG_6079-(W)

I finally pulled out a stamp for the sentiment on the Bumblebee card and used the In-Color Markers to ink it up on a tag from the sticker sheet.

Would love to hear how you liked these cards before hop on over to see Tricia playing with patterns and In Colors!

What’s New: Toile Tidings for Christmas

Whats new (2)

This creative group of Stampin’ Up! demonstrators from around the globe are back to showcase CHRISTMAS creations and we appreciate you hopping along with us!

A gorgeous crimson cardinal along with the pastoral print of a countryside Christmas combine to make this card a keepsake:

IMG_3732-(W)

It’s really a lovely combination when layered on a Soft Seafoam card base, isn’t it? Stampin’ Up! really provides the best coordinating products to help take the guesswork out of your crafting. I used the Toile Christmas stamp set and Toile Tidings Designer Series Paper, along with the Stitched Nested Label Dies to provide a background for the bird.

To color the cardinal, I simply used the Watercolor Pencils (White and Daffodil Delight) to color the bird after stamping it in black ink. No need to add water, just start coloring lightly and layering the color.

IMG_3733-(W)

It’s a simple card to create, and conveys a beautiful wish for a holiday of happiness!

Good Morning, Magnolia: What’s New Blog Hop

Whats new (2)Welcome to our first “What’s New at SU!” Blog Hop through the 2019-2020 Annual Catalog! As an international group of demonstrators, we look forward to sharing ideas to inspire you to get out your rubber stamps to create something special in your own craft room.

I’ve chosen to showcase the Magnolia Lane Suite~ an absolute stunning collection of coordinating products that would make Chip & Joanna Gains drool.

Watermarked1(2019-05-29-1416)

This card came together so perfectly with very basic stamping, a bit of DSP, a punch, and the coordinating Magnolia Memories Dies. Using the decorative edge die on both the top and bottom of the Petal Pink panel left room for the stripes to peek out.

Watermarked2(2019-05-29-1416)

The Story Label punch isn’t part of the suite, but gave the sentiment a focal point, and by punching two holes on the ends, I could thread the Mossy Meadow twine through to secure it to the card.

Mimicking the elegant edge on the inside gives extra attention to your hand-written expression of appreciation and finishes off the greeting card with style:

Watermarked3(2019-05-29-1416)

Now it’s time to hop on over to the next blog where Joyce is spotlighting the Bloom & Grow bundle or if you missed it, jump back to Tricia’s post and work backwards through the hop.
